from KSL on February 10, 2015:

“WEST VALLEY CITY — Out of caution, West Valley police are asking the public to help them identify any potential victims of a man facing multiple charges of child sex abuse.

In September, Michael Alan Jordan, 34, of West Valley City, was charged in 3rd District Court with four counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, four counts of sodomy of a child and four counts of forcible sodomy, all first-degree felonies. He was also charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and sex abuse of a child, second-degree felonies; and witness tampering and four counts of dealing in harmful materials to a minor, third-degree felonies.

The alleged abuse involved three victims, according to court records. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Feb. 18.

While there is no current evidence to suggest there are additional victims, West Valley police spokeswoman Roxanne Vainuku said detectives are concerned because Jordan had close access to children while he was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America from 2010 to 2014 and was active in LDS churches in West Valley City and Taylorsville.

The alleged victims in his current court case did not come in contact with Jordan through his affiliation with those groups. However, Vainuku said because of Jordan’s alleged egregious pattern of behavior, detectives wanted to put the word out as a precaution in case there are other victims that have not been identified.

“Jordan has a history of threatening victims with disclosure or publication of graphic details to keep them quiet,” she said.

Anyone with information can call West Valley police detective Jaron Averett at 801-963-3415 or the general police number at 801-840-4000.”

from ABC4 Utah on January 15, 2016:

“SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah News) – An former appliance repairman and Boy Scout leader accused of child sexual abuse was convicted on all 33 charges Friday.

35 year old Michael Alan Jordan of West Valley City had access to young children in his role as a Scoutmaster and and repairman who made house calls. In February of 2015 he was arrested for a laundry list of offenses including aggravated sexual abuse of a child and 16 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

His ex-wife Stacy said that Michael was nice at first but became controlling and verbally abusive. She had filed for divorce just hours before she first heard what he had done.

“I was sick,” Stacy Jordan told ABC4 Utah News. ” I had to leave the room, actually leave where I was at. I had to go into my bathroom and vomit.”

Stacy says Michael was smug throughout his trial.

“He walks into the courtroom with a smile on his face and looks for his family and smiles at them as if nothing happened,” she said.

But his mood changed as the jury foreman said the word “guilty” 33 straight times.

“There was a couple of times when we looked at him and he looked like he was ready to cry,” Stacy said. “There was a few times he would shake his head in disbelief that these children had told on him and come forward. I don’t see remorse in him at all. In fact at the very end when it was over the judge had asked if there was anything else he wanted to say and he blurted right out ‘Just take me to prison right now. Just go drop me off so I can get this all done with’.”

On Friday night Stacy’s thoughts were with the young victims.

“All of these innocent children that were involved in this and what he did to them,” she said. “This is a chapter of their life that they can have closure on…They can rest assured and be peace at heart that he’ll never be able to do this to anyone ever again. Ever.”

Jordan is scheduled to be sentenced on March 7th.”

Jordan filed appeals with Utah courts in 2018 and 2021.
