Source type: News articleA Buffalo Grove man pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography Wednesday and received 30 months of probation under a plea deal approved by Judge James Booras.
An additional charge of dissemination of child pornography was dropped in exchange for Harry O. Jones’ guilty plea, authorities said. The deal was negotiated between Assistant State’s Attorney Mary Stanton and defense attorney Barry Sheppard.
Jones, 44, could be sent to Lake County Jail for six months if he doesn’t comply with conditions of his probation, according to the plea deal. He also must perform 200 hours of public service, register as a sex offender for life, participate in any treatment programs recommended by the probation department and pay more than $6,000 in court costs.
Jones, who was set for trial June 29, was accused of uploading images of child pornography to a social media site, Stanton said. The company that owns the site notified authorities, who initiated an investigation and served a search warrant at Jones’ home Feb. 5.
