2023-08-09 BREAKING: Roselle Stevenson has been arrested and charged with a sex crime – one felony count of sodomy on a child. A judge has ordered that she be held without bail.

Stevenson was a daughter of renowned LDS scholar Richard Lloyd Anderson; granddaughter of Gerrit de Jong, namesake of LDS apostle Gerrit Gong.

Roselle Stevenson arrest details

From a UCSO press release by the Utah County sheriff’s office (UCSO) on August 9, 2023:

“Roselle “Rosie” Stevenson Arrested For Sodomy on a Child Charge
08/09/2023 04:11:07 pm

Rosie Stevenson was arrested today and booked into jail on one count of sodomy on a child for an incident that happened 30 years ago.

“Roselle “Rosie” Anderson Stevenson, age 70, of Provo, was arrested today on one count of sodomy on a child, a first degree felony, for an offense against a girl under age 13.”

“The incident occurred in Spring City, Utah in or around the year 1994.”

“This case is directly related to charges that were previously filed against David Hamblin in September of 2022.”

“These cases are part of an ongoing investigation involving sexual abuse of children that occurred in Utah, Juab, and Sanpete Counties in the 1980’s and 1990’s.”

Roselle Anderson Stevenson AKA Rosie Hamblin alleged crime details

According to FOX investigative reporter Adam Herbets, investigators say David Hamblin forced a child to perform oral sex on Rosie Hamblin.

According to KUTV, a female victim came forward to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office in April 2022 and told investigators that she was sexually assaulted on her 13th birthday by David Hamblin at the Hamblin home in Spring City. Rosie Hamblin was allegedly involved in the abuse on that occasion.

We have obtained the police probable cause affidavit in this case, dated 2023-08-09. It states in part:

“Detectives with Utah County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating several cases of children being sexually assaulted over several years.

“In this investigation several victims have come forward to report being sexually assaulted by the defendant.

“These victims have reported being sexually assaulted throughout numerous parts of Utah County as well as other County’s throughout the state.

“This investigation has been going on for more than a year with several different witnesses, suspects, and victims, from all over the state of Utah and further.

“During this investigation it has been found that the defendant was known to be one of the main suspect’s in sexually assaulting several children over an extended period.

“The victim in this case reported being sexually assaulted by the defendant and her husband of that time, from the time she was six years old until she was approximately 12 or 13 years old.

“The victim is currently 42 years old.

“In one incident she described being taught by an adult female and adult male, whom she identified as the defendant and her husband, how to perform oral sex on a female.

“The victim reported this occurred at a home in Spring City, Utah, that was owned by the defendant and her husband at the time.

“The defendant and her husband took the victim into a bedroom where the defendant stripped nude and got onto her bed.

“The victim was then forced to get onto the bed and forced to perform oral sex on the defendant.

“The victim recalled the defendant sitting on the bed with her back against the headboard and her legs were spread.

“The victim was then forced to lay between the defendants’ legs and to perform oral sex on the defendant while her husband gave the victim instructions.

“The defendants’ husband told the victim to “lick everything,” and to suck on the defendants’ labia.

“The victim described what she saw, describing the defendants’ nude body in detail, and the noises the defendant made during this incident.”

Rosie Hamblin Stevenson accused of sexually abusing a child with her then-husband David Hamblin

FLOODLIT.org has obtained an information filing made in the Utah court system on August 10, 2023. The filing was submitted by Juab County Attorney Ryan Peters and provides the following information from a probable cause statement by Trevor Shepherd of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office:

“Between about 1992 and 1993, when the victim was 12 or 13 years old, in Sanpete County, Utah, the victim was with the Defendant [Roselle Stevenson] and Defendant’s family at Defendant’s home. At some point,
victim was taken into a room where the Defendant was wearing a sheer nightgown.

“The Co-Defendant [David Hamblin], who was Defendant’s spouse at the time, directed the victim to perform oral sex on the Defendant, while the Co-Defendant lay on the bed in his underwear with his penis exposed. Victim was instructed to “lick everything” on the Defendant’s genitals. The victim was promised a toy prize if she did a good job. Victim did as she was told. Victim describes the color of the Defendant’s genitals and the noises Defendant made while the abuse occurred.”

Ritualistic sex abuse allegations involving Roselle Hamblin Stevenson

In the police probable cause affidavit in Stevenson’s case, dated August 9, 2023, the “husband of that time” was David Hamblin.

Rosie and David Hamblin are both alleged to have taken part in ritualistic sexual abuse of multiple children over a period of multiple years.
