Nelson was arrested in April 2024 in Tucson, Arizona and extradited to Gilbert, Arizona.

His grandmother was a sister of former Mormon church president Spencer W. Kimball.

Neslon is in prison in Arizona.  According to his public inmate file on Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitaion & Rentry as of 2024 Nelson had a work program/work assignment with LDS services in August 2024.  His prison release date is 06/30/2093

    GILBERT, Ariz. — The Gilbert Police Department is seeking information about the whereabouts of a man convicted for sex offenses involving children, police said.

    Paul Nelson was convicted for sex offenses involving children on Nov. 15 stemming from a 2021 Gilbert police investigation. The judge issued a warrant for Nelson’s arrest after he failed to appear for the verdict, police said.

    Nelson is believed to be possibly armed and suicidal, according to police. The photo below depicts Nelson both with and without hair, police said he may or may not have hair currently.

    Police said Nelson could be traveling in one of two vehicles:

    - Gray 2010 Honda Accord with plate BEE9946
    - White 2003 Nissan Xterra with plate ATX4498

    The plates may have been changed or switched, police said.

    The Gilbert Police Department is searching for a man convicted of sex offenses involving children after he failed to appear for the verdict.

    Paul Kimball Nelson was convicted Nov. 15 on the charges stemming from a 2021 Gilbert police investigation. The judge, Mark Brain, issued a warrant for Nelson’s arrest after he failed to appear.

    Nelson is believed to be possibly armed and suicidal, according to police. He may or may not have hair.

    Nelson may be traveling in a gray 2010 Honda Accord with license plate BEE9946 or a white 2003 Nissan Xterra with plate ATX4498, though police said the plates may be switched or changed.

    Nelson was convicted by jury on two counts of molestation of a child and one count each of sexual abuse, indecent exposure and sexual conduct with a minor, according to Maricopa County Superior Court records.
