Tyce Tanner was a Mormon church member in St. George, Utah; June 2024 was accused or rape; charged with 4 counts rape, object rape, forcible sodomy and forcible sexual abuse on May 2025; case is ongoing as if August 2026.

Tyce Alan Tanner was a Mormon in St. George, Utah.

On June 22, 2024, Tanner was was accused of raping a 20-year-old female acquaintance at a party.   Tanner was arrested May 22, 2025 and charged with rape, object rape, forcible sodomy, and forcible sexual abuse; case pending in Fifth District Court, Washington County.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed by St. George Police, the alleged assault occurred at a private home in St. George where a group of friends, including Tanner and the alleged victim, had been drinking. Tanner, then 20, reportedly became sick from drinking more heavily than the others, and the victim, a woman who knew him as a friend, helped him downstairs and gave him water.

The affidavit states that as she was assisting him, Tanner grabbed the back of her head and tried to kiss her; she refused. He then allegedly pushed her onto the couch, removed his own clothing, pinned her down and moved her clothing and raped her.  She was able to push him off and run to friends in the house for help, all while Tanner was still assaulting her.

The victim underwent a forensic interview and a SANE (Code R) exam at the time of the report. Tanner did not give a statement to police but consented to a buccal swab; the state crime lab found his DNA matched.

Tanner turned himself in and was arrested on May 22, 2025, nearly a year after the alleged assault and booked by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on charges of rape (1st degree felony), object rape (1st degree felony), attempted forcible sodomy (2nd degree felony), and forcible sexual abuse (2nd degree felony). Officers cited his active probation/parole status at the time and flight-risk concerns as grounds for continued detention.

At his May 23, 2025 initial appearance, bail was set at $20,000 cash or bond with conditions barring contact with the victim and unsupervised contact with any female; his father, Todd Tanner who is also listed in the Floodlit database, posted bail for him on June 11, 2025.

Tanner is due back in Court in-person Appearance – ARRAIGNMENT is scheduled for September 29, 2026.

According to the public safety assessment report Tyce Tanner has had a previous misdemeanor conviction or was on probation.  The P.C. Affidavit also states “Felony committed while on probation or parole, or while free on bail awaiting trial on a previous felony charge (they were out on probation or parole)” as a reason for continual detention.

Floodlit was unable to locate any previous misdemeanor convictions for Tanner in the Utah Court Records.

Tanner’s public Facebook page shows that Tanner served a mission for the LDS church sometime between 2022-2024. His last photo of himself on his mission was January 6, 2024.

The alleged rape was reported as of June 2024, around 5 months after Tanner’s most recent LDS mission photo.
