Carl Eugene Canfield (1946-2024) was a Mormon church member and served as an elder in a congregation in the East Lansing, Michigan area. Between 1971 and 1986, in Perry, Michigan, he sexually abused four of his daughters, beginning when the eldest reporting daughter was six and continuing until she left home at fifteen.
According to her account, he never changed his behaviour and continued making unwanted sexual remarks to his daughters until his death.
When the abuse was reported to church leaders, they took no action and called the daughters liars.
