(1982 – ) Jade Austin Thelin (born 1982) is a Mormon church member and returned missionary who served in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil from 2001 to 2003, and who has served in Young Men's callings for nearly 20 years, as a high priest group leader and as a member of a bishopric, in Portland, Oregon; his former wife reported to FLOODLIT that through most of their marriage, from 2006 to 2022, he raped her while she was unconscious from a prescribed sleeping medication taken as directed, and that she usually did not remember.

Jade Austin Thelin (born 1982) is a Mormon church member and returned missionary who served in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil from 2001 to 2003, and who has served in Young Men’s callings for nearly 20 years, as a high priest group leader and as a member of a bishopric, in Portland, Oregon. His former wife reported to FLOODLIT that through most of their marriage, from 2006 to 2022, he raped her while she was unconscious from a prescribed sleeping medication taken as directed, and that she usually did not remember.

In January 2022, while they were beginning to divorce but still sharing a home, she woke to find him attempting to penetrate her and told him to stop; two nights later it happened again, and after repeatedly telling him no she pushed him off, found the door blocked and her keys taken, and left the house by summoning a car without his knowledge.

She reported it to police days later. About three months after that she reported it to his bishop, with an elders quorum president present at her request. The bishop neither reported it nor disciplined him, and within six weeks he was given a new and more prestigious church calling.
