Details: James Ricky Neumeyer
Floodlit obtained copies of police records created by the Centerville Police Department in 2024.
A police detective reported that in June 2024, they found evidence on Neumeyer’s cell phone that he had downloaded child sexual abuse material (CSAM) from “at least 99” websites.
In September 2024, a police detective reported that the Davis County Attorney’s Office sent them a letter stating that “we are unable to proceed with the investigation and prosecution of this matter at this time.” The attorney’s office also stated that “Based upon the subject being deceased, we cannot proceed further with the investigation and prosecution of the allegations.”
However, the letter also said, “Based upon the existing information presented to our office, we would have encouraged the Centerville Police Department to continue the investigation and formally screen the case for potential criminal charges if the suspect were still alive.”
Multiple victims reported child sex abuse to police, with the alleged abuse by Neumeyer spanning multiple decades.
A therapist for an alleged victim said that this was one of the most egregious sex abuse stories she had dealt with, according to a source familiar with the case.
An immediate family member of an alleged victim communicated with Floodlit. They said the victim was abused by Neumeyer and an adult female.
