Summary

Michael Driggs was a Mormon church member who perpetrated sex crimes in the 1980s in Arizona and in 2004-05 in Kearns, Utah.
Driggs met his second victim at church and FLOODLIT is trying to find out whether Mormon officials knew about his 1985 conviction when he moved to Utah.
Driggs went on an LDS mission to Brazil. He was allegedly removed from missionary service in Brazil after mission leaders learned he was having inappropriate relationships with young boys.
Driggs was not sent home, but rather was sent to continue as a Mormon missionary in the US Southern States mission, according to a source familiar with Driggs who requested anonymity.
Once again, Driggs was discovered to be having inappropriate relationships with young boys, and was sent home to Arizona, the source said.
As of 2004, Driggs was attending LDS church meetings regularly but had been excommunicated from the church, according to the source.
FLOODLIT is looking for more abuse survivors who may have been victimized by Driggs. If you were abused by him or know more about him or about the LDS church response to allegations that he abused children, please contact us.

1. Prison ordered for Kearns man in sex abuse case of boy he met at church
SALT LAKE CITY — A man convicted in a sexual abuse case involving a young man he met in church will serve up to life in prison.
Judge Randall Skanchy sentenced Michael Driggs, 62, to serve three years to life in prison for attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.
Police say Driggs abused the boy in 2004 and 2005 when the victim was 12 and 13. Driggs helped the boy set up an email account, which he used to send him pornographic movies and photos, according to the charges. Prosecutors said he sexually abused the boy when he came to the Kearns house where Driggs lived at the time.
Driggs was originally charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child and four counts of sodomy on a child, all first-degree felonies, and providing harmful material to a minor, a third-degree felony. Those were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.
Driggs was convicted in 1985 of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Maricopa County, Ariz., and was required to register as a sex offender for life.
