Richard Mellor was a Mormon church member in Bountiful, Utah. Mellor is a former teacher at Eastmont Middle School in Sandy, Utah.
Mellor pleaded guilty to stalking December 22, 2020.
In November 2020 Mellor was charged with a misdemeanor stalking charge, which occurred September 26, 2020.
“Mellor was a social studies teacher at Eastmont Middle School in Sandy, but he resigned on Nov. 12, a Canyons School District spokesperson told FOX 13.
According to court records, a pre-trial protective order was signed Tuesday. It prohibits Mellor from “attempting, committing or threatening to commit domestic violence or abuse against the protected person” or anyone in their family or household. It also prohibits all communication between Mellor and the protected person and requires that he stay away from their home, school or workplace.” Fox 13
SENTENCED:
sentenced to a term of 364 day(s) The total time suspended for this charge is 354 day(s) / 10 days in Davis County Jail is stayed
12 months probation
According to a person familiar with Mellor, the stalking charge was due to evidence that Mellor had sent a three page letter to a 16-year-old minor. In which he solicited sexual acts in exchange for cash or gifts. At the time of the alleged letter, Mellor was a sixth grade teacher, according to FLOODLIT’s source. The source said Mellor “has been disfellowshipped but not excommunicated” as of late June 2026.
