Henry Gurule (1918 – 2012) was a Mormon church member in Utah; in 1994, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse; was permitted to serve jail time on home confinement; was given therapy and ordered to pay $2,296 restitution; In 2005, two more second-degree felony counts of forcible sexual abuse were dismissed without prejudice after Gurule complied with a plea agreement; died in 2012.

Henry Gurule was a Mormon church member in Utah.

In 1994 (case #941400124), Gurule pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse. He was permitted to serve jail time on home confinement. He was given therapy and ordered to pay $2,296 restitution.

In 2005 (case #021402486), two second-degree felony counts of forcible sexual abuse against Gurule were dismissed without prejudice.

Court records indicate that in 2003, Gurule entered into a plea agreement wherein a guilty plea for each count was held in abeyance, and Gurule was ordered to “submit to mental and psychological evaluations every 6 months, comply with treatment and therapy, and pay the costs thereof.”

Gurule was also ordered to “meet with his closest ecclesiastic leader.”

On August 21, 2003, a letter from a “Bishop Jeffrey Ballard” was filed with the court.

As the charges were ultimately dismissed in 2005, it appears that Gurule successfully complied with the terms of the plea agreement.

From Gurule’s 2012 obituary: “He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed going home teaching and served in the scouting program for many years.”

    Henry G. Gurule, 94, of Provo, died September 20, 2012 in Orem, Utah.

    He was born January 3, 1918 in Aqua Ramon, Rio Grande County, Colorado to [redacted]. He attended school in Colorado. He married [redacted] on April 4, 1958 in Provo.

    He served as an Army-Air Force Medical Corpsman in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II. He served for over three years and received the following medals: Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, and Victory Medal.

    He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed going home teaching and served in the scouting program for many years.
