Arthur Laws (1946 – 2014) was a Mormon church member in West Bountiful, Utah; convicted of ATTEMPTED - SEXUAL ABUSE OF A CHILD - 3rd Degree Felony in 2010.

Arthur Grant Laws was a Mormon church member in West Bountiful, Utah, who perpetrated a sex crime in 2009.

According to the person who told Floodlit about Laws’s case, Laws was the ward librarian in his LDS West Bountiful ward. In November of 2009 church members observed Laws fondling, a girl’s breasts over her clothing, according to Floodlit’s source.

Laws pled guilty in August 2010 and was sentenced to 5 years in prison, suspended. Laws served his suspended prison time at home, because of medical issues Laws had.

Laws died in Oct. 2014.

The prison term is suspended.

The defendant has been serving his sentence on

    home confinement due to medical problems.
    Mr. Fujino makes statements.
    Mr. Larsen makes statements.
    The defendant submitted medical statements today.
    The court finds that the defendant will serve his sentence in the Davis County. The jail staff should evaluate the defendant and if they feel there are medical issues that cannot be handled there, Mr. Fujino may call the clerk to have defendant put back
    on the calendar for a review. The defendant’s wife is to provide all medications any a list of special needs to the jail staff.
    ORDER OF PROBATION
    The defendant is placed on probation for 36 month(s).
    Probation is to be supervised by Adult Probation & Parole.

    A Grant Laws

    1946 – 2014

    After a very long battle of poor and declining health, our father returned home to our Father in Heaven and his Savior, Jesus Christ , on October 3, 2014, as a glorious sunset spread across the western horizon.

    He was born December 26, 1946 to Chester H. and Arlyne V. Laws. Raised primarily in Salt Lake City, graduating from Granite High in 1965. Served an LDS mission to the California South. Upon his return he met his sweetheart, Katherine Norman, marrying her August 29, 1968 in the Manti Temple and shared 46 years together. In the spring of 1970 he graduated with an Associate’s Degree from SLCC in Drafting Technology. He was blessed with four children.

    In his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the great outdoors. He shared a great love for scouting with his sons, receiving the Stone Award, Vigil rank in OA Award of Merit and Silver Beaver. He served faithfully in the LDS Church in a bishopric and various other callings.

    Survived by his wife, three children Scott (Rebecca), James, and Virginia (Andrew); five grandchildren. Also survived by four brothers and spouses, numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, one sister and his daughter Erin Marie.

    Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, October 10, 2014 at the West Bountiful 9 th Ward Chapel, 1930 N. 600 W. Friends may visit family Thurs. Oct. 9 th from 6-8 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. and Fri. from 9:30-10:30 am at the Church prior to services. Interment Lakeview Memorial Park, Bountiful, Utah.
