Evan Mark Shelline was a man in Teton, Idaho charged with two counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child in October 2024.
A person who reported Shelline’s case to Floodlit said Shelline was active in the LDS church.
Evan Shelline Criminal Charges
Shelline was charged in 2024 after a woman told a Teton County Sheriff’s deputy she had found a concerning video uploaded to a Google Drive account by Shelline.
According to the East Idaho News (Dec. 4, 2024):
“According to the woman, she believes a six-year-old was filming the video because their hair is seen in the corner of the frame. Police say the video was taken over four years ago, on April 4, 2020. They also determined that it was recorded on Shelline’s phone in Driggs.”
According to the Teton Valley News (Dec. 9, 2024):
“Both the prosecution and Shelline’s attorney Chris Lundberg are using the video as evidence, explaining that it shows a naked Shelline lying on a bathroom floor while [a girl], around age 3 at the time, rubs oil on his buttocks. The prosecution also explained a dog is in the video licking the oil off Shelline’s bare body at the same time the child is applying it.”
Evan Shelline arrest warrant details
An arrest warrant was issued out of Teton County on Oct. 18, 2024, and Shelline was arrested in Oakland County, Michigan, but the warrant was later quashed.

1. Judge Boyce debates admitting evidence in Shelline case
Teton County prosecutors have charged Michigan resident Evan Shelline with sexual exploitation of a child. Judge Steven Boyce arraigned him on Dec. 3 and after a motion for limine from the defense, he is now debating whether to admit or exclude the video evidence presented in the preliminary hearing into the higher court.
The case against Shelline began when the Teton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by his ex-wife after she had found the video on their family’s shared Google Drive photos album. The video is from 2020 when Shelline and the woman were still married and living in Teton County. They later got a divorce and both relocated to Michigan.

2. Man charged after video allegedly shows sexual contact with child and dog
DRIGGS — A 42-year-old man is facing felony charges after a woman told police she found a video of him having sexual contact with a child and a dog.
Evan Mark Shelline was charged with two counts of felony sexual exploitation of a child. One of the charges was later dropped. In probable cause documents, Teton County Sheriff’s deputies recommended Shelline be charged with sexual abuse of an animal, but prosecutors have not charged him with that crime.
According to court documents, on July 3, a woman contacted a Teton County Sheriff’s deputy and said she found a concerning video uploaded to a Google Drive account by Shelline.
Police reports say the video shows Shelline and a dog engaging in sexual contact. A three-year-old child is seen sexually touching Shelline, but the child did not have contact with the dog in the video.
According to the woman, she believes a six-year-old was filming the video because their hair is seen in the corner of the frame. Police say the video was taken over four years ago, on April 4, 2020. They also determined that it was recorded on Shelline’s phone in Driggs.
On Aug. 8, 2024 the minor in the video was asked to participate in a forensic interview. According to court documents, the child “did not speak about the incident that was recorded.”
An arrest warrant was issued out of Teton County on Oct. 18, and Shelline was arrested in Oakland County, Michigan, but the warrant was later quashed.
Shelline was summoned on Oct. 25 to appear in Teton County and participated in his district court arraignment on Dec. 3. Teton County Prosecutor Bailey Smith declined to comment on the ongoing case.
He is expected to appear for a jury trial on March 26. If convicted, he could face 30 years in prison.
Though Shelline has been charged with these crimes, this does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

According to court documents, a deferred prosecution agreement was reached between Teton County prosecutors and Shelline on Feb. 28, which is a “voluntary agreement between the prosecutor and the defendant whereby the government offers to dismiss charges upon the defendant’s satisfactory fulfillment of certain requirements (e.g., performing a certain number of community service hours),” according to the Pretrial Services Agency of the District of Columbia.
Shelline contacted EastIdahoNews.com, saying the deferred prosecution agreement is “in no way an admission of guilt or no contest to the charges.” EastIdahoNews.com asked Shelline and his attorney what his requirements for the agreement are, and we are waiting to hear back.
We also reached out to Teton County Prosecutor Bailey Smith, who has not gotten back to us. We will update when we learn more.
Shelline’s jury trial for March 26 has been canceled, and a review hearing has been set for March 3, 2026.

4. Former resident charged in Teton County for sexual exploitation of a child; pre-trial set for Feb. 18
A video found by a former Teton County resident’s ex-wife showing him without any clothes on while in a bathroom with his toddler daughter and a dog is at the center of the felony sex crime charge he’s facing.
A local judge said a jury will have to decide at trial whether or not the video is sexual in nature.
Teton County prosecutors have charged Michigan resident Evan Shelline with sexual exploitation of a child. The case against Shelline began to unfold when the Teton County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by his ex-wife after she had found the video on their family’s shared Google Drive photos album. The video is from 2020 when Shelline and the woman were still married and living in Teton County. They later got a divorce and both relocated to Michigan.
Both the prosecution and Shelline’s attorney Chris Lundberg are using the video as evidence, explaining that it shows a naked Shelline lying on a bathroom floor while his daughter, around age 3 at the time, rubs oil on his buttocks. The prosecution also explained a dog is in the video licking the oil off Shelline’s bare body at the same time the child is applying it.
On Oct. 25, Magistrate Judge David Hunt bound the case over to district court under two subsections of the sexual exploitation of a child crime. Shelline was arraigned in district court on Dec. 3 before Judge Steven Boyce.
During the preliminary hearing in Teton County magistrate court on Oct. 25, the woman testified that she could identify her child and the defendant in the video.
There was confusion at the hearing about who shot the video and when.
The prosecution had initially accused Shelline on three subsections of child exploitation, which included a charge pursuant to the presence of the dog involvement, but Judge Hunt ruled this out saying the specificity in the state statute and case don’t support that accusation.
Judge Hunt still found that the prosecution, led by Teton County Deputy Prosecutor Trey Trusty, provided enough evidence to make a case that Shelline knowingly participated in the video and/or did not do anything to prevent what could have been considered sexual nudity or touching by the child.
The prosecution pointed out at the hearing that Shelline allegedly knew he was on video during the incident because he appeared to be smiling at the camera. This also stood as the prosecution’s evidence Shelline could have been overtly sexually aroused by the situation in which there was nudity and alleged fondling, which would suggest he was allowing a child to participate in sexual exploitation.
Judge Hunt stated during the preliminary hearing that a jury would have to determine if there is sexual content in the video or not.
If convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor, Shelline faces up to 30 years in prison with $50,000 fine.
His pre-trail conference has been scheduled for Feb. 18, 2024 and will go before a jury on March 26 if not resolved before then.
