  SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — A Salt Lake County man has been arrested on numerous charges related to the sexual abuse of [redacted] and another female minor, according to Unified Police.

  The suspect, 40, whose name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim, was arrested in Salt Lake County on Tuesday on 10 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of rape of a child, four counts of object rape of a child, five counts of sodomy of a child, and eight counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child — all first-degree felony charges.

  On Monday, April 27, the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) notified Unified Police of a case involving child sexual abuse. DCFS conducted an interview with a 10-year-old girl, in which she disclosed that a man had been making her shower nude with her 13-year-old [redacted], who is identified as the [redacted].

  The suspect would reportedly video record these incidents, which took place over the course five years, court documents state.

  Police obtained a search warrant and took the suspect into custody. In an interview with police, the man admitted to possessing nude photographs and videos of the two girls, stating that the content was taken and stored on his cell phone.

  He admitted there would be “too many to know how many images” were in his possession, court documents state.

  The suspect also admitted to sexually abusing [redacted] over multiple years, including a wide range of sexual activity. Police obtained the man’s phone and other electronic devices, where they found “several videos” of sexual abuse involving him and [redacted].

  According to police, the abuse of this child has been taking place over five years and has happened an unknown number of times.

  “[The suspect] stated that if he is released he will be killed,” court documents state. “[redacted].”

  Police have requested that the suspect be held without bail as the investigation is still in its early stages and may result in additional charges.

  The suspect was booked into Salt Lake County Jail. No further information is available at this time.

  Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
