Packer is a convicted felon who pleaded guilty to felony injury to a child in 2023.

In March 2021, Bonneville County Sheriff’s detectives were called to a local hospital after Packer, 53, disclosed to staff he had been accused of taking a shower with a 14-year-old girl. Packer told deputies he had kissed the girl in the past, and that the shower incident occurred after he had surgery on his arm and asked her to help him take the dressing off while showering. The girl told investigators she asked if she could wear a swimsuit while helping, but he allegedly said no. He reportedly hugged her at least twice during the incident and afterward allegedly told her to keep it between themselves.

    Brian Trent Packer, 59, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 28, 2026, at his home. He was under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

    Brian was born August 16, 1967, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, including Bonneville High School.

    On July 1, 1995, he married his “true love,” [REDACTED], in Ririe, Idaho. She passed away March 9, 2012.

    Brian married [REDACTED] in Twin Falls, Idaho, and they separated a couple years later.

    Brian worked as a truck driver for Burggraf Enterprises, Idaho Package Company (IPAK) for 21 years, and then two years at Bonneville County Road and Bridge.

    He was a member of the LDS Church. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, boating, fishing, bowling, going for car rides, shooting his guns, and billiards. His favorite color was blue. Please feel free to wear blue to his funeral to honor him.

The family will visit with family and friends Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, Ammon, ID, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, 12463 E. 129 N., Rigby, ID.

    Iona — An Iona man is facing sexual abuse charges after allegedly showering with a teenager.

    Bonneville County Sheriff’s detectives were called to a local hospital in March after Brian Packer, 53, disclosed to staff he had been accused of taking a shower with a 14-year-old girl, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdahoNews.com. Packer is now charged with felony sex abuse of a child under 16.

    Packer told deputies he had kissed the girl in the past and the shower incident occurred after he had surgery on his arm. Packer told investigators he needed help taking the dressing off his arm while showering, so he asked the alleged victim to help. The victim told investigators she asked Packer if she could wear a swimsuit while helping, but he allegedly said no.

    At least twice during the incident, Packer reportedly hugged the victim. After the shower, Packer allegedly told the girl to keep it between themselves.

    Bonneville County Prosecutors charged Packer and he was arrested and booked into the Bonneville County Jail on Tuesday. He made an initial court appearance then posted $15,000 bail, according to court records.

    Although Packer is accused of a crime, it does not necessarily mean he committed it. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

    A preliminary hearing for Packer is scheduled for June 29.
