One of his adult sons reported to FLOODLIT that in 2025 he began learning from relatives of allegations that his father had sexually abused children within the family across several decades and generations, including his sisters, nieces, other young relatives and one of his own sons.

He estimated there may have been around a dozen child victims but stated explicitly that he could not establish a number and did not want the estimate treated as a proven victim count.

An estranged relative told him that she was herself one of the victims, and that in the early 1990s she discovered he had also sexually abused her young daughters on multiple occasions while she was away from the home. She disclosed that abuse to her bishop and stake president in Las Vegas; according to her account she saw no resulting report to authorities and was unaware of any meaningful action. The reporting son states that church members continued to associate with his father after he informed the stake.
