On April 22, 2008, Wright tendered his resignation from the State Bar with charges pending.
On January 10, 2008, Wright appeared in Placer County Superior Court, where Judge Colleen Nichols ordered an evaluation of his finances to determine whether he qualified for a public defender.
On May 22, 2008, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ordered Wright to show cause why he should not be removed from its roll of attorneys. He did not respond.
The State Bar placed Wright on interim suspension following his conviction, effective June 9, 2008.
On September 16, 2008, Judge Vaughn Walker ordered Wright removed from the federal court’s roll of attorneys.
The California Supreme Court disbarred Wright effective May 3, 2009.
The court modified Wright’s probation terms in 2011 and 2012. A 2013 motion under PC 1203.2a was denied.
In May 2016 Wright was arraigned on a probation violation. The violation was dismissed and his probation was terminated on June 14, 2016.
On January 24, 2020, Wright, 80, died when the single-engine plane he was aboard crashed about one mile north of the Auburn Municipal Airport.
Anthony Lawrence Wright Sr. appears on archived sex offender records from December 2011-August 2019. Anthony Wright Sr. died in a plane crash in January 2020. Wright Sr. does not appear in the following archived sex offender record in July 2020.
According to a source familiar with Wright Sr. “Anthony was a leader in the LDS church, his ward even created a new calling for him. His title was ‘Brother Friendly’ and his duty was to read stories to the primary children during sunday school sessions. Anthony had been molesting several [young girls] throughout a period spanning several decades. Until he was caught in the act the day after Christmas in 2007. The LDS church moved him to a different ward but still welcomed him with open arms. He was disbarred from his long career as an attorney. However, since he was well known and served in the same district in which he was tried, the judge let him off easy with a mere 9 month sentence to county jail. During his probation period he maintained contact with his underage [relatives] including some of his victims. Eventually Anthony made headlines once again when his private airplane crashed, killing him and his son upon impact in January of 2020. [Children] are finally safe from this perverted child abuser.” In addition, they reported “LDS church leaders were aware of the abuse and they went through the process of excommunicating him but welcomed him back as soon as he finished the process of repentance and reinstatement. Anthony was moved to a different ward (within the same stake) and continued to attend church service meetings without having to disclose his status as a registered sex offender to his fellow ward members.”

4. Employee of Rancho Cordova Police Department killed in Auburn plane crash | Update
According to investigators, the plane crashed wing-first into the trees and was “extremely mangled” by the time first responders made it to the scene
---
AUBURN, Calif — Two people are dead and one more has been injured after an airplane crashed Friday morning one mile north of the Auburn Municipal Airport, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office.
A representative from the FAA Pacific Division said there were reportedly three people on board the flight. The plane was a single-engine Stinson Vultee V-77. A report of a plane down was first reported around 10 a.m.
The Placer County Sheriff's Office identified the two men who died as Anthony Lawrence Wright Sr., 80, of Meadow Vista, and his son, Anthony Lawrence Wright Jr., 55, of Meadow Vista. The injured person has not yet been identified.

5. History of the single-engine Stinson Vultee V-77, the plane that crashed in Auburn
A Stinson V-77 plane crashed in Auburn on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020. Here is what we know about the WWII-era plane
---
AUBURN, Calif — A small, rare warplane was the aircraft used in a plane crash Jan. 24 that killed two people and injured one person in Auburn. The plane was a single-engine Stinson Vultee V-77, and it crashed one mile north of the Auburn Municipal Airport.
Anthony Lawrence Wright Sr., 80, and his son, Anthony Lawrence Wright Jr., 55, died in the accident, according to Placer County Sheriff. Wright Jr. was Reserve Deputy Sheriff and a full-time records officer with the Rancho Cordova Police Department. The injured person has not been identified.
Matt Armenta, a fellow pilot at the Auburn Municipal Airport, said that Wright Jr.'s plane was beautiful and well maintained.
"He loved that plane. He was always very excited about it when he would tell you about the history of the aircraft," Armenta said. "He was like a little kid in a candy store talking about his baby that he loved so much."
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the single-engine Stinson V-77 hasn't been involved in a crash since 1977. The NTSB is investigating the cause of the Auburn crash.
In 1977, the cause of the was believed to have been connected to a flat tire. The pilot tried to land in Riverton, Ill., but due to a flat tire, the pilot was unable to land correctly. The NTSB also suspects that the pilot did not properly operate the brakes and flight controls on landing.
The NTSB reports there have been 29 crashes involving the Stinson V-77 model across America since 1965. Four of the crashes since 1970 resulted in deaths. The crash in Auburn was the deadliest.
The Stinson V-77 was known as the AT-19 when it flew American soldiers and members of the British Royal Navy during World War II, according to the Vintage Aircraft Association.
There are currently 88 Stinson V-77 planes and three Stinson AT-19 planes registered in the U.S. with the Federal Aviation Administration. Five of those planes are registered in California. The Vintage Aircraft Association said this plane model is a rare sight for plane enthusiasts.

7. NTSB: Distress Call For Engine Failure Before Deadly Auburn Plane Crash
AUBURN (CBS13) — The NTSB has released new information in a fatal plane crash that killed a father and son last month.
A preliminary report reveals that the pilot made a distress call for engine failure shortly before the plane went down, about one mile northeast of the airport on Dry Creek Road.
Anthony Wright Sr., 80, spent more than a decade rebuilding the historic plane that crashed on Jan. 24, the single-engine Stinson V-77 is a World War II-era plane.
His son, 55-year-old Anthony Wright Jr., was a 23-year veteran of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department who had been serving with the Rancho Cordova Police Department as a Reserve Deputy and Records Officer.
A third person was in the plane at the time of the crash and survived with major injuries.
Several witnesses reported hearing the engine backfiring before it crashed into someone's backyard.

acampos@sacbee.comBy all accounts, Anthony Lawrence Wright has been a hardworking board member of a fire district serving the communities just north of Auburn.
Fellow member Greg Guyan called Wright, who is president of the Placer Hills Fire Protection District, an "outstanding board member."
Fire Chief Ian Gow said Wright, a 12-year veteran board member, helped lead the district from a station with part-time volunteers to a department with full-time firefighters.
"There have been a lot of changes under his tenure," Gow said about the district that protects Applegate, Clipper Gap, Eden Valley, Meadow Vista and Weimar.
Today, the only thing the chief and Wright's fellow board members know is that he is in the Placer County jail charged with molesting children.
Wright, 68, was arrested on Dec. 27 by the Sheriff's Department on 13 felony counts of sexual misconduct.
Five of the charges allege acts with a child younger than 10. The other eight allege misconduct with a child younger than 14.
Wright's bail has been set at $400,000, and he is scheduled to be in Placer Superior Court on Tuesday, when a judge is scheduled to determine whether he has enough money to hire his own attorney.
In the meantime, the Placer Hills fire board has not heard from Wright.
"There's been zero communication," said Gow. "We literally know nothing more than what we've read in the newspapers about this case."
Guyan, the board's secretary, said the arrest "caught us off guard."

Panel: Board is down to three

"We sit next to each other on the board, but that's all I really know of him," he said. "I don't know anything about him personally."
A call left at Wright's home Tuesday was not returned by family members.
Guyan said Wright had just rebuilt his home in Meadow Vista. The house burned in a fire last year, he said.
"He threw a Christmas party at his home, and we'd all seen him," Guyan said.
With Wright in jail, the fire board is down to just three members – Guyan, Kelly Fulfer and Richard Rogers.
The board's vice president, Belle Jones, who moved to Utah to be with an ill parent, resigned in December, Gow said.
The board is taking applications for Jones' vacancy, and an appointment is expected Feb. 6, he said.
With Wright in jail, the board isn't sure what to do about the fifth chair, its remaining members say. Wright's term expires in December 2010.
"Right now, we just wish him and his family the best and to get through the (judicial) process," Guyan said.

13. Placer Hills fire official in court on sex charges
AUBURN – The president of the Placer Hills Fire Protection District board was in court Thursday facing charges of child molestation.
In the Placer County jail since his arrest Dec. 27, Anthony Lawrence Wright, 68, appeared before a judge to discuss whether he should be represented by a public defender.
Placer Superior Court Judge Colleen Nichols ordered an evaluation of Wright's finances and scheduled another hearing for Jan. 22.
Wright, a 12-year veteran on the fire district board, faces 13 counts of sexual misconduct. Five charge molestation of a child under the age of 10. The other eight charge molestation of children under the age of 14.
His bail, originally set at $500,000, was reduced last week to $400,000. The Placer County Sheriff's Department has given few details about the case because it involves minors.
Wright was re-elected to the fire board in 2006. His term expires in late 2010.
The Placer Hills Fire Protection District serves the communities of Applegate, Clipper Gap, Eden Valley, Meadow Vista and Weimar.
Three members of the board attended a regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday – Greg Guyan, Kelly Fulfer and Richard Rogers. Vice President Belle Jones resigned at the end of December and has not been replaced.
Guyan said the board was "caught off guard."
"We didn't know for a week that he'd been arrested," Guyan said.
He said Wright had been "an outstanding board member," but that he knew little about him outside the board meetings.
