    SPRINGVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A man is charged after allegedly sexually abusing his infant daughter.

    The 23-year-old man, who ABC4.com is not naming at this time due to his relation to the victim, is charged with three counts of object rape of a child (a first-degree felony).

    According to court documents, the defendant's wife and mother-in-law reported him to police after he became "infatuated with diaper changing" and would regularly change his four-month-old daughter, regardless of if she needed to be changed or not.

    The witnesses also described that they saw the defendant inappropriately touching the infant during one of the diaper changes, in a way that court documents say that appeared to be the defendant's attempt to sexually gratify himself.

    When the witnesses confronted the defendant, he allegedly "frustratingly responded with he hadn't done anything wrong". However, the witnesses were reportedly so disturbed that they began to hide the diapers and other items, "because they feared [defendant] was or could be being inappropriate with the victim."

    He also allegedly expressed his dislike of the infant and that he wished the infant had never been born, as well as threatening to kill the child, himself, and his wife by intentionally crashing the vehicle they were in.

    The defendant has been booked into jail and formally charged. Investigators have asked that he be held without bail, because of his threats to the family.

    Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
