Bryan Lee Johnston was a Mormon church member, returned missionary and youth leader in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and a high school teacher. Between 2013 and 2018, in his mid-to-late forties, he groomed and pursued a relationship with one of his students over roughly five years.

He was arrested and convicted of stalking and harassment, and was sentenced in February 2019.

He was serving as a youth leader during at least part of the period in which the conduct occurred. What church leaders knew is unknown.
