Chad Denis Maughan was a Mormon church member in Lacey, Washington who held multiple leadership callings and was serving in either an elders quorum presidency or a Young Men’s presidency at the time of his arrest. A middle school teacher, he raped a 14-year-old student in 2005.

He was arrested at his home while his family was holding family home evening; his wife was pregnant with their seventh child.

He served a short prison sentence, was excommunicated, moved to Sandy, Utah, and was rebaptised several years later.
