Charles Sherman “Sherman” Price Jr. (1947-2020) was a Mormon church member and returned missionary who served as a Las Vegas temple worker and supervisor, a stake presidency counselor, a member of a stake Young Men’s presidency, a scoutmaster and a youth leader, and who frequently attended girls’ camp in a priesthood capacity. Between 2004 and 2012, in Henderson, Nevada and Syracuse, Utah, he molested his grandchildren.
He confessed first to his eldest son and then to his stake president.
He pleaded not guilty in Davis County, Utah district court and then took a plea deal, serving less than a year in jail. He was later tried in Clark County, Nevada, after a former daughter-in-law learned of the abuse and allowed the children to be interviewed, and was sentenced to time served. According to the account submitted to FLOODLIT, the stake president told Price’s wife that they wanted to keep the matter quiet because Price had held so many stake and temple callings that publicity could affect a lot of testimonies, and family members were pressured not to report to police. His wife was assigned to watch him while at church and declined to divorce him because doing so would have ended her temple service.
