Three years earlier, a person went door to door through the neighbourhood leaving typed notes warning residents to protect their children from him, stating that he had abused a girlfriend when she was a child and other girls she knew, that no charges had been filed, and that the women did not believe they could prove it.

According to the person who reported the case to FLOODLIT, the bishop at the time sent an email on church letterhead dismissing the accusations, saying the person making them was out to get him or had the wrong man.
