Jacob Edward Zaugg (born 1993) was raised in the LDS church in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a large and prominent Mormon family. He is incarcerated, having been denied bail, and awaits trial in two separate cases involving two unrelated complainants: one carrying two first-degree felony counts of rape and object rape, the other four first-degree felony counts of rape and sodomy.

The alleged conduct runs from about 2010 in the first case and from 2014 to 2021 in the second.

According to a report submitted to FLOODLIT, the evidence includes recordings of him admitting to acts in both cases. The report also states that close relatives, several of them returned missionaries and one couple having led a senior mission, attend nearly every hearing in his support, and that one of the complainants has been the target of a public campaign by a family member.
