Karl Lusk (1965 – 2026) Karl James Lusk (1965-2026) was a Mormon church member in Logan, Utah; was not charged until December 1999; the Utah Supreme Court held in 2001 that the four-year statute of limitations in effect at the time of the offenses had already expired before a 1996 amendment extended it, and reversed and remanded, effectively ending the prosecution as time-barred.

Karl James Lusk (1965-2026) was a Mormon church member in Logan, Utah. Between August 1983 and April 1984, when he was 18, he sexually assaulted two young sisters, aged five and six, and showed them pornography at his mother’s home, where the children were attending daycare.

He was not charged until December 1999; the Utah Supreme Court held in 2001 that the four-year statute of limitations in effect at the time of the offenses had already expired before a 1996 amendment extended it, and reversed and remanded, effectively ending the prosecution as time-barred.

A person who attended the same daycare during that period reported the case to FLOODLIT. Lusk’s parents were church members; what, if anything, local leaders knew at the time is not established.
