1. Serious crimes among Greenup indictments
GREENUP Greenup County indictments rolled out this week and while the number of people indicted was meager, the charges they are accused of are considerable.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather a grand jury has reviewed a case and concluded that there’s enough evidence to officially charge someone with a crime.
The following individuals remain innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
• Sean R. Clark, 38, of Flatwoods, was indicted on one count of first-degree sodomy and nine counts of first-degree sexual abuse. Clark’s indictment alleges he victimized three separate minors over the span of five years.

Watts, 49, of Greenup, was indicted on drug-related charges and traffic violations including: first-degree trafficking more than two grams of methamphetamine, simple possession of heroin, operating on a suspended or revoked license, no registration plates and failure to maintain insurance.
• D’Shaun L. McCandless, 28, of Dayton, Ohio, was indicted on two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree fleeing or evading police and second-degree persistent felony offender.

• James F. Unrue III, 39, of Russell, was indicted on charges of theft by unlawful taking of property valued between $1,000 and $10,000, receiving stolen property and persistent felony offender.

2. Sex Crimes Scheduled For Trial
GREENUP A man accused of sexually abusing three separate minors over the course of five years received a trial date on Thursday.
Sean Ryan Clark, 39, of Flatwoods was indicted by a Greenup County grand jury in November 2022 on one count of first-degree sodomy and nine counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
The indictment further alleged Clark victimized the children over the course of five years.
Clark’s attorney, Marie Troxler, said additional evidence, including school and medical records, is still outstanding.
Troxler also requested a trial date.
Per Troxler and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Joe Merkle, the trial is expected to last approximately three days.
If a resolution isn’t reached before then, the case will be presented to a jury in early 2024.
