Dale Everett Heckel case report »
Heckel was convicted of sexually abusing a woman he worked with in 2009. The woman had special needs, according to a person familiar with the case.
Heckel was sentenced 1-15 years in prison.
He served time in prison from 2009 to 2013.
Someone familiar with Heckel’s case reported that he had previously confessed to two LDS bishops, in a neighboring county to the county in which he was later convicted, that he had sexually abused someone else and the bishops did not report it to the police.
In addition, they stated that they helped Heckel get a job at the place where he assaulted the victim he was convicted for sexually abusing in 2009.
They told FLOODLIT that both bishops reasoning for not reporting to the police was they “didn’t want to ‘ruin [Heckel’s] life.'”
Heckel is a registered sex offender living in West Valley, Utah as of May 2026.
