Kent Staheli was a Mormon church member in California and Utah. He was convicted in federal court in 2010 of charges related to child pornography.

He pleaded guilty to transmitting the name of a minor over the internet and distribution of child pornography and was sentenced in November of 2010 to seven years in prison to be followed by life supervision.

In 2008, Staheli (then about 50 years old) attempted to meet up with a 13-year-old child for a sexual encounter, with a firearm, and distributed child pornography.

He graduated from BYU in 1983 with a BA in civil engineering.
