Daniel Roy Robison AKA Dan Robison was a Mormon church member and a former professor and bankrupcy attorney in St. George, Utah.
Floodlit was able to obtain court documents in multiple criminal and civil cases involving accusations against Robison, thanks to your support.
As of Feb. 2, 2026, Robison is facing a federal criminal charge of enticing a minor by internet or text, and state felony charges in Utah for alleged child sexual abuse.
On Nov. 17, 2017 in Utah, a protective order was issued on behalf of four minor children regarding Robison.
On Sept. 07, 2018, a civil stalking case was filed and denied.
On Feb. 27, 2019, Robison was charged with violating the protective order against him.
On Feb. 14, 2023, Robison was arrested in a sting operation in Salt Lake City that coincided with the NBA All-Star Weekend that was hosted there. Initially, Robison was charged by the state of Utah for alleged sexual enticement of a minor. Records at Recently Booked suggest that Robison was also charged with three traffic related offenses at the same time.
In 2023, Robison’s state charge of enticement was dismissed without prejudice, because he was charged in federal court with the same crime. As far as Floodlit is aware, that federal case is still ongoing as of Feb. 2, 2026.
On May 7, 2024, a permanent protective order was filed for an individual adult against Robison.
On Aug. 21, 2024, Robison was arrested and charged in Utah with five felony charges of sodomy on a child and six felony charges of aggravated sex abuse of a child. He was booked into the Washington County Jail on Aug. 21, 2024 and remains in that jail as of February 2026.
According to Robison’s court case file, he was scheduled to enter a change of plea on Feb. 15, 2026. However, that has been cancelled. The docket now shows a Feb. 19, 2026 competency hearing has been scheduled.
Dan Robison: Mormon church membership history
A person familiar with Robison told Floodlit that Robison was in a ward elders quorum presidency during some of the alleged abuse. According to another person familiar with Robison, he also held the following LDS church positions at different times: youth Sunday school teacher, and institute teacher at Utah Tech University (Formerly known as Dixie State University).
Floodlit is seeking more information from people who lived in the same LDS ward or stake as Robison. Please contact us if you have any information about his history in the Mormon church.
Floodlit obtained an image of Robison from his bankruptcy law practice’s YouTube channel.

6. 12 arrested in online predator sting during All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City
SALT LAKE CITY — Federal, state and local law enforcers teamed up during the NBA's All-Star Game in Salt Lake City to crack down on online predators.
Twelve people were arrested over a 10-day period during an undercover sting called Operation Technical Foul that ran just before, during and after All-Star Weekend. The effort was headed up by the FBI's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force and targeted "people who use the internet to solicit and entice minors in our community," according to the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.
"The safety of our children is of paramount importance. Those who prey on and exploit our most vulnerable will be prosecuted to the full force of the law. This is a collaborative effort to keep our community safe. I appreciate the time that was dedicated to this operation during the All-Star Weekend. When many in Salt Lake County were enjoying the events for the All-Star Weekend, others took this as an opportunity to violate the law," said Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill.
Many of those arrested have been charged in Utah's 3rd District Court with crimes such as sexual solicitation of a child, enticing a minor and criminal solicitation.
Undercover agents would either pose as children on online dating and social media apps, or would pose as adults offering their children to predators for a fee, according to court documents. One man who allegedly arranged to have sex with a 7-year-old girl acknowledged after he was arrested that he "did something really stupid" and it was the first time he had tried something like that, according to charging documents.
Another man, a long-haul truck driver from Taylorsville, was arrested after allegedly arranging to have sex with a 7-year-old boy and sending child pornography to the undercover agent, charging documents state. Another man, who police say worked for Hill Air Force Base, traveled from Roy to Taylorsville to have sex with a 13-year-old girl and also sent the undercover agent posing as the girl several sexually explicit pictures and messages, police stated. A fourth man arrested is already a registered sex offender from a prior conviction.
"You get all sorts of people from all backgrounds. That makes the work so critical because you can't say there's one particular type (of predator)," said Gill.
He said that people from other counties and even states will travel to Salt Lake City to engage in what they believe will be sex with a child. That's why when events such as the All-Star Game happen, attracting large amounts of people, Gill says law enforcement wants to be proactive in trying to prevent abuse from happening.
"People are constantly trolling for children," he said.
Gill emphasized that without the collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement partners, efforts such as Operation Technical Foul wouldn't be nearly as successful. Each relies on the talents and resources of the other, he said.
But Gill also says parents play an important role in protecting children. Operations like these serve as a way to educate parents that predators are out there, he said, and as a reminder for parents to monitor their child's phone and online activity.
Eleven of the 12 people arrested had been formally charged in 3rd District Court as of Monday: Kendrick Aristotle Eastes, 31, of Taylorsville; Douglas James Elmer, 59, of Murray; Jesus Alexander Mendoza, 30, of Orem; Addison Jacob Smith, 28, of Taylorsville; James Alton Jette, 23, of Salt Lake City; Wes Clarence Max Rhodes, 36, of West Valley City; Chase Bate, 33, of Roy: Daniel Roy Robison, 62; Jesus Ramon Serrano Trujillo, 27, of Sandy; Ricardo Luna-Franco, 45, of Magna; and 39-year-old Matthew Sean McGahee.
Operation Technical Foul included agents from the FBI, Utah State Bureau of Investigation, Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office, Davis County Attorney's Office, Davis County Sheriff's Office, South Jordan Police Department, Unified Police Department, Tooele Police Department, Clearfield Police Department, Utah State University Police, the Missoula County, Montana, Sheriff's Office and Homeland Security Investigations.

7. 12 arrested in child exploitation sting that began during All-Star Weekend
SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The FBI's Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, along with multiple law enforcement agencies in northern Utah, used the recent NBA All-Star Weekend as an opportunity to locate potential child predators.
The operation began as thousands converged on Salt Lake City for the NBA's All-Star Game, when area police departments, district attorneys' offices, sheriff's departments joined Homeland Security Investigations for "Operation Technical Foul." The sting focused on rooting out individuals who attempt to entice minors online.
According to the county's statement, the operation lasted 10 days and began on the All-Star weekend. Authorities made identified 12 individuals who allegedly attempted to meet with who they thought were children for the purpose of sex. All 12 individuals were being held in the Salt Lake County jail as of Monday morning, and Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill was in the process of reviewing the cases and filing charges, and the U.S. Attorney's Office will review the cases further for potential federal charges.
“The safety of our children is of paramount importance," Gill said. "Those who prey on and exploit our most vulnerable will be prosecuted to the full force of the law. This is a collaborative effort to keep our community safe. I appreciate the time that was dedicated to this operation during the All-Star weekend. When many in Salt Lake County were enjoying the events for the All-Star weekend, others took this as an opportunity to violate the law,” said Sim Gill, Salt Lake County District Attorney."
According to the DA's office 11 of the 12 people arrested have been charged. It wasn't immediately clear if the 12th individual's case was still under review or if charges were not being filed in that case.
The county filed charges against Daniel Roy Robison, 62, Jesus Ramon Serrano Trujillo, 28, Ricardo Luna-Franco, 45, Matthew Sean Mcgahee, 39, Kendrick Aristotle Eastes, 31, Douglas James Elmer, 60, Jesus Alexander Mendoza, 30, Addison Jacob Smith, 28, James Alton Jette, 23, Chase Brexton Bate, 33, and Wes Clarence Max, whose age has not yet been confirmed.
The name of the 12th individual was not released.
Probable cause affidavits filed in the arrests show all the suspects were arrested on suspicion of enticing a minor by internet or text, though arresting officers recommended additional charges for several of them.
Jail documents state that task force officers posed as minors using social media and other mobile apps.
"Based on (the detective's) knowledge and experience, children under the age of 14 use these websites and applications daily to interact with others around the world," according to the arrest affidavit filed in Mendoza's arrest. "(The detective) interacts in an undercover capacity on these applications and websites in a similar fashion as the average every-day users of these applications and websites to lend credibility to the undercover accounts."
In addition to enticing a minor, Mendoza was also arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor and patronizing a prostitute involving a child, according to the affidavit, after the detective reportedly placed an ad online insinuating an underage girl would provide sexual services for money in West Valley City. Mendoza allegedly sent child pornography to the detective after responding to the advertisement, and offered $150 for "to meet with the purported juvenile for sex."
Jette, who was arrested Feb. 17, was arrested on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a minor and soliciting sex, also after responding to an ad placed by a detective online.
The suspect allegedly thought he was going to meet with a 15-year-old girl when he was arrested in a West Valley City hotel parking lot, court documents state.
According to arrest documents in Luna-Franco's case, the man allegedly responded to a detective's ad that purported to be placed by a father who was offering his young daughter for sex. He was arrested on suspicion of a criminal solicitation and sexual exploitation of a minor, both second-degree felonies.
In Bates' case, officers arrested him on suspicion of dealing in materials harmful to a minor after he allegedly sent a detective posting as a 13-year-old "multiple pornographic pictures and short video clips" of pornography.
McGahee, whom the arresting officer identified as a convicted sex offender, allegedly went to a junior high school in Taylorsville looking for who he thought was a 13-year-old boy after learning where the fictional child went to school. McGahee was arrested on suspicion of second-degree felony counts of enticing a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor.
According to the probable cause statement in Eastes' arrest, the suspect allegedly shared images of suspected child sexual abuse with a Homeland Security agent. The agent was reportedly a father trying to prostitute his young boys.
Eastes was arrested on suspicion of three counts of first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and suspicion of three second-degree felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in addition to suspicion of second-degree felony enticing.
The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, Davis County Attorney’s Office, Davis County Sheriff’s Office, South Jordan Police Department, Unified Police Department, Tooele City Police Department, Clearfield Police Department, Utah State University Police, Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, and Homeland Security Investigations were all involved in Operation Technical Foul.

10. Former attorney in St. George faces 11 sex abuse charges following investigation
A former St. George attorney out on pretrial release after allegedly attempting to meet up with a 13-year-old for sex in northern Utah last year now faces nearly a dozen first-degree felonies in Washington County.
On Aug. 21, the defendant, Daniel Roy Robison, 63, of St. George, was booked into jail in Washington County, where he faces 11 first-degree felony charges that include five counts of sodomy on a child and six counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
The charges were filed Aug. 13, following a monthslong investigation by the St. George Police Department into a report alleging Robison had sexually abused at least four children in St. George. At least two of the children were under the age of 7 when the abuse reportedly took place, according to the affidavit filed in support of the warrant.
Investigators say Robison was in a position of trust when the incidents occurred, and the abuse occurred multiple times at various locations throughout Washington County, information corroborated by statements made to detectives through a series of interviews.
After the charges were filed on Aug. 13, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Robison, who was out on pretrial release on a federal case filed in May of 2023.
In that case, Robison was indicted on a felony charge of enticement of a minor filed in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City on May 16, 2023, following a sting operation launched by the FBI Child Exploitation Human Trafficking Task Force several months before.
Task force agents allege that on Feb. 7, 2023, Robison began communicating with a 13-year-old boy on social media who turned out to be a decoy posing as a juvenile. Several days into the operation, court records state, Robison called the decoy to arrange a meeting for the purpose of having sex.

Photo by Icafreitas/iStock/Getty Images PlusDuring a phone call, Robison reportedly said he wanted to meet the decoy "right away" but said he needed to be careful because he did not want to end up in jail. He said he could not be "blunt" in his texts for fear that law enforcement may be following the text thread, court records state.
Authorities say Robison arranged to meet the boy at the Trax Train Station in Murray, and when he arrived, officers closed in, and Robison was taken into custody without incident. Officers reportedly recovered a cellphone, condom, wallet and passport prior to transport.
During an interview, Robison told agents it was the boy who solicited him and attempted to minimize the call, claiming the two only discussed general topics and that sex was never mentioned, court documents state.
"None of these things were true," the officer notes in the report.
Robison was then booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and charged with a second-degree felony count of enticing a minor.
At the time of the arrest, agents asked that Robison be held without bail, citing that as an attorney practicing in Utah, he knew what he did was wrong and illegal, "and still made arrangements to meet and sexually abuse a 13 year old boy," the agent notes.
The request was approved, and Robison remained jailed in Salt Lake County on a no-bail hold.
Three months later, Robison was indicted in federal court on the same charge and the state case was dismissed.
On July 5, a bond hearing was held in federal court and prosecutors argued for continued detention, as outlined in a 7-page memorandum filed to support keeping Robison in federal custody. During the hearing, the court ruled that Robison be released from jail, and he remained on pretrial release for the next 14 months while the federal case continued moving through the court.

Photo by Cody Blowers, St. George NewsIn the meantime, detectives in St. George concluded their investigation and the case was submitted to the Washington County Attorney's Office for review. On Aug. 16, 11 felony charges were filed, and a no-bail warrant was issued for Robison's arrest.
Five days later, Robison was arrested, returned to Washington County and booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility, where he remains without bail. An initial appearance has been scheduled in the case to take place Thursday in 5th District Court in St. George.
The federal case is slated for a three-day jury trial, which will begin Sept. 5 in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City.
This report is based on statements from court records, police or other responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
