Jason Pedersen was a Mormon church member in Heber City, Utah.
Found guilty of ATTEMPTED – AGGRAVATED SEX ABUSE OF A CHILD – 1stDegree Felony.
A source told FLOODLIT that Pedersen sexually abused a child for approximately 5 years, starting when the child was about 5 years old.
The mother of the victim reported the abuse to the bishop, who helped the mother report Pedersen to the police.
FLOODLIT was told the original charge was AGGRAVATED SEX ABUSE OF A CHILD – 1st Degree Felony, and a plea deal was made to plea down to ATTEMPTED – AGGRAVATED SEX ABUSE OF A CHILD – 1st Degree Felony.
Pedersen was not excommunicated or disfellowshiped by the Mormon church after he was released from prison, the source said.
