John Jones was a Mormon church member in American Fork, Utah
Jones was convicted of forcible sodomy in or before 1988. He was sentenced to five years to life in prison.
Jones was a registered sex offender in Utah as of 2007.
Jones died in 2020.
From Jones’s obituary: “He loved his country and he was proud to have served in the Army. He also was able to serve diligently in many areas of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held an honorable calling up until January 2020 at the bishop’s storehouse.”
