Wyatt Mullen, of Sandy, Utah, was charged with multiple sex crimes in October 2025.
Mullen, 28, is facing 20 felony charges after four separate online interactions with undercover officers posing as minors or their guardians.
Charges against Mullen include two counts each of attempted rape and sodomy on a child, four counts of enticement of a minor, and 12 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
In March 2025, Mullen allegedly contacted an agent posing as a 13-year-old girl, engaged in sexual talk, and exchanged photos, leading to one enticement charge.
Between Aug. 6 and Sept. 25, Mullen allegedly sent 12 child sexual abuse (CSAM) videos to an agent posing as a father, discussing past abuse, and attempting to arrange meetings with fictitious children while referencing other undercover accounts. This resulted in the 12 exploitation charges.
On September 23, Mullen messaged an agent as a 12-year-old, made sexual advances, planned a meetup, and followed up on a fabricated encounter, yielding another enticement charge, according to documents.
The fourth alleged incident, on September 26, saw Mullen arrange to meet two supposed 12-year-olds, express caution about police, but proceed. Officers arrested him at the site after he arrived in the described vehicle; he admitted chatting with an underage girl. This led to the attempted rape, sodomy, and enticement charges.
As of Oct. 8, Mullen is being held without bail in the Salt Lake County Jail.
Based on our initial research, FLOODLIT believes Mullen is a former Mormon missionary and was active in the Mormon church at the time of his alleged crimes.
We’ve included a photo sent to us by a person familiar with the case, which they said was of Mullen as an LDS missionary in 2016.

1. Sandy man charged for attempting to meet with minors across four undercover operations
SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — A Sandy man has been charged with 20 felonies after allegedly engaging in sexual conversations about children with undercover officers over four instances.
Wyatt Charles Mullen, 28, has been charged with two counts of attempted rape of a child, two counts of attempted sodomy on a child, four counts of enticement of a minor, and 12 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. These charges are divided into four separate and distinct instances, based on the four conversations with undercover law enforcement.
Charging documents indicate that officers with the West Valley City Police Department, the Davis County District Attorney’s Office FBI Task Force, and the State Bureau of Investigation all engaged in conversations with Mullen.
First undercover operation
According to court documents, the first conversation took place on March 4, 2025. An undercover agent posing as a 13-year-old child online was contacted by another user — later identified as Mullen. He allegedly messaged that he was “bored at work and very horny” and responded flippantly when the undercover agent told him they were 13 years old.
The conversation moved to a second chat platform, where Mullen began asking who he believed to be a 13-year-old girl about her sexual history. He asked for a photo of the minor, and law enforcement sent an edited photo that looked like a child. Mullen allegedly responded with a photo of himself. This conversation resulted in one charge of enticing a minor.
Second undercover operation
On Aug. 6, 2025, a different undercover agent was posing as a father with children on an online chat platform. A user — later identified as Mullen — contacted the undercover agent to ask sexual questions about the children.
Throughout conversations with Mullen, he allegedly sent the undercover agent twelve different videos containing child sexual abuse material. He also said that he had previously sexually abused a 17-year-old and that he was 28, documents say. Mullen stopped messaging the undercover for a while, but on Aug. 28, made contact with the account again.
Mullen asked for a photo of the undercover’s child, and the agent shared an edited photo to look like a child. He allegedly tried to make arrangements to meet with the undercover agent and child in person, but was unable to do so.
On Sept. 25, Mullen contacted the undercover agent again, documents say. He said that he knew a 12-year-old who wanted to engage in sexual relations with him, but that he couldn’t meet with her. The undercover agent realized that this was his alternate account where he was posing as a 12-year-old online.
The undercover agents pretended that they were going to meet up, and Mullen responded that he was “excited for” them and wished he could come. After the fake meeting between the undercover accounts, Mullen asked questions about the encounter.
In another conversation, Mullen allegedly told the undercover agent that he “might have just found two” 12-year-olds, referencing another undercover operation being performed. He asked again to meet with the undercover agents’ underage child, saying, “I’m doing either your daughter or those girls tonight.”
The undercover agent asked if Mullen was meeting with the 12-year-olds, to which Mullen replied that he was “outside their apartments now,” documents say.
These messages with the undercover agent resulted in 12 counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. The agent was able to subpoena information about Mullen’s address and phone number using information from this chat.
Third undercover operation
According to court documents, on Sept. 23, the same agent was undercover as a 12-year-old girl on a chat platform. A user, later identified as Mullen, made contact with the account and moved to a second chat application after introductions.
Mullen allegedly made multiple sexual comments about the 12-year-old and asked to meet with her that night. The two exchanged photos, the undercover agent using a photo edited to look like a child.
After making plans to meet up, Mullen asked if the undercover agent wanted to meet with a different adult instead, referencing the agent’s alternate account. The 12-year-old agreed to meet with the other adult, and Mullen messaged the following day to ask sexual questions about what happened.
For this conversation, Mullen was charged with one count of enticement of a minor.
Fourth undercover operation
On Sept. 26, 2025, an undercover officer was posing as a 12-year-old child on a chat platform. Another user, identified as Mullen, messaged the account, saying that he was “kinda horney” and sitting at home alone.
The undercover agent replied that they were underage and that if Mullen was “not cool” with that they could stop talking. Mullen asked how old they were but asked to move the conversation to a different chat platform before the undercover agent could respond.
After moving platforms, Mullen allegedly told the undercover officer that he was 28, and the agent replied that they were 12 years old, but would be turning 13 soon. The 12-year-old told Mullen she was with a friend, and Mullen began asking sexual questions about both of them, documents say.
Mullen began making plans to meet with what he believed to be two 12-year-olds, saying that he had to be “very cautious” because one of them could “be a cop,” documents say. The undercover agent gave Mullen opportunities to disengage when he expressed caution.
Instead, Mullen allegedly said, “F— it, let’s do it,” and made plans to meet with them. He described the vehicle he would be arriving in and sent a picture of himself.
Law enforcement waited at the meeting location and observed Mullen arrive in the vehicle he had described, wearing the clothing seen in the photo he had shared. Police detained him, and he allegedly admitted that he was the one on the chat platform and that he was speaking with a girl who said she was under 18.
For these messages, Mullen was charged with two counts of attempted rape of a child, two counts of attempted sodomy on a child, and one count of enticement of a minor.
Mullen was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, where he is currently being held without bail.
