1. Provo man accused of collecting, distributing child sex abuse material
PROVO — A Provo man was charged Tuesday with collecting and distributing child sex abuse material and engaging in disturbing online conversations with others about sexually abusing children.
Jacob Owen Bunker, 25, is charged in 4th District Court with aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony, and three counts of enticement of a minor, a second-degree felony.
The investigation began in May when the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking task force arrested a man for allegedly enticing a child. As investigators searched that man’s electronic devices, they found social media chats with another man, later identified as Bunker, according to charging documents.
Some of the conversations found by investigators included Bunker stating that he wants to sexually abuse a preschool classroom and also wants a calling in his church overseeing young children. “I would molest every kid,” he stated, according to the charges.
Bunker is also accused of sending the other man a video of “what appears to be a self-produced video of child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as child pornography,” the charges state. “In addition to these conversations, law enforcement also discovered that (Bunker) had established a group chat on a social media chatting application wherein he and others discussed their sexual interest in children,” and he “discussed how he has ‘watched a lot of toddler porn.'”
During an undercover operation, FBI agents attempted to arrange a meeting with Bunker under the guise of molesting a young child, but the meeting never happened, the charges state.
After he was arrested, Bunker “admitted to using social media to talk to others to make arrangements to sexually abuse children, though claimed he would then delete the account. (He) admitted to using social media to find, view, and distribute child sex abuse material” but “claimed to have never abused a child himself,” according to charging documents.

2. Provo man sentenced after police said he distributed child pornography
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Jacob Bunker, 26, pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
Judge Griffin ordered Bunker to spend 300 days in jail and four years on probation.
Bunker's family supported him in letters to the judge, highlighting his progress and potential for change.PROVO — A Provo man accused of collecting and distributing child pornography will be spending time in jail and on probation.
Jacob Bunker, 26, pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced on July 29 to one to 15 years in prison. Fourth District Judge Roger Griffin suspended that sentence and instead ordered him to serve 300 days in jail, with credit for the 250 days he already served, and be on probation for four years.
Bunker was charged in November after the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking task force arrested another man and found social media chats between that man and Bunker. Charging documents said those chats included him saying he wanted to sexually abuse a preschool classroom and would like a calling in his church overseeing young children.
Charging documents also accused him of sending "what appears to be a self-produced video of child sexual abuse material," and establishing a social media group chat where he and others discussed sexual interest in children.
After being arrested, charges said Bunker admitted to using social media to talk to others and make arrangements to sexually abuse children, but said he would then delete the account. He said he had never abused a child.
While on probation, the judge ordered Bunker to not contact children, obtain full-time employment, complete a psychosexual evaluation and follow anything it recommends, stay away from online dating sites and have no active dating profiles, provide all usernames and passwords to Adult Probation and Parole on request and not use any alcohol or recreational marijuana.
Multiple family members and friends submitted letters for the judge to read before issuing his sentence in support of Bunker — including his parents, siblings and fiancée — each saying they support him and will help him follow the court's requests.
His father said he knows Bunker "in ways that a court file cannot show" and it has been hard to reconcile what he knows from years of raising his son with the charges.
"I am not asking the court to pretend that Jacob's choices were not serious. I am asking the court to consider that Jacob is not beyond help, not beyond change, and not beyond becoming a responsible and contributing person," Jeff Bunker said.
He pointed out progress Jacob Bunker made while in jail and asked for an opportunity for him to rebuild his life.
Jacob Bunker accepted a plea deal on June 10 that reduced the charge he pleaded guilty to from aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony, and dismissed three charges for enticing a minor, a second-degree felony.

4. FBI investigation leads to Provo man being charged for discussing sexual abuse of children
PROVO, Utah (ABC4) — A Provo man is behind bars after allegedly having multiple conversations about sexually abusing children. Law enforcement discovered these conversations after arresting another individual for enticing minors.
Jacob Owen Bunker, 25, is charged with one count of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony, and four counts of enticement of a minor, a second-degree felony.
On May 20, documents say, the FBI Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force (CETF) arrested an individual for enticement of a minor. As part of the investigation, the CETF seized and searched the suspect’s electronic devices. During that search, social media conversations with another user were discovered.

The CETF began investigating the other individual involved in these conversations, allegedly later identified as Bunker.
In the exchange between the two, court documents say Bunker sent a message saying that he wants to sexually abuse young children. In response, the previously arrested suspect stated that he “needed a church calling [in] the primary.”
Throughout the conversation, the two discussed sexually abusing young children, including Bunker sharing “experiences” about when he did it. At one point, Bunker allegedly shared a video that appeared to depict self-produced CSAM of a young child.
According to court documents, a group chat involving Bunker was also located by the FBI CETF, in which he discussed watching CSAM and repeatedly expressed his desire to abuse pre-pubescent children.
An FBI investigator began posing as a father with two young children and started a conversation with Bunker. In their communication, Bunker allegedly described his interest in meeting with the two children to abuse them, and plans were made. Ultimately, that meeting did not occur.

Court documents say that Bunker again expressed that he wanted to sexually abuse very young children and wanted to meet with the investigator’s fake child. He also reportedly offered to send CSAM to the investigator.
The following day, law enforcement responded to Bunker’s residence and arrested him. During a police interview, he allegedly admitted that he used social media to arrange meetings to sexually abuse children, but would then delete the account. He claimed that he had never abused children in real life.
Bunker was booked into the Utah County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

5. Utah man accused of collecting, distributing child sex abuse material
PROVO, Utah (KSL.com) — A Provo man was charged Tuesday with collecting and distributing child sex abuse material and engaging in disturbing online conversations with others about sexually abusing children.
