Daniel A. Bake was a Mormon church member in Fernley, Nevada, who served as a Young Men’s leader.
Between 2008 and 2010 he molested two of his children and confessed to church leaders.
According to a family account submitted to FLOODLIT, those leaders undertook to help him repent and did not report the abuse to Nevada’s Division of Child and Family Services; a report was made only after his eldest daughter disclosed the abuse to a Young Women’s leader. The children went on to harm one another over the following decade. Bake was still serving as Young Men’s leader when he went to jail in 2017. He was convicted and is a registered sex offender.
