Summary

Lance Jacks was a Mormon church member who perpetrated a sex crime in 2012 in Roy, Utah.
Jacks was charged in 2012 with two felony counts: one count of first-degree felony sodomy on a child, and one count of first felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
In 2013, the first charge was dismissed as part of a plea deal.
Thanks to the plea agreement, a six-year prison term was suspended, and Jacks was sentenced instead to 550 days in jail, with credit for time served. He was also sentenced to 10 years of probation.
A person familiar with the case told Floodlit that mainstream news reporting erred regarding the story of how Jacks got access to his victim.
The victim’s mother originally agreed with Jacks’s mother to have her watch the child, the source said. When the mother returned, Jacks’s mother declined to be paid, indicating instead that Lance should be paid because “he did all the work,” according to the source.

2. Roy man gets jail, probation in sex abuse case Courts • He pleads guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of child.
A Roy man was sentenced to jail time and lengthy probation after he admitted to sexually abusing a 4-year-old girl he baby-sat.
Lance Eugene Jacks, 19, was originally charged in 2nd District Court with sodomy on a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child, both first-degree felonies.
In May, as part of a plea agreement, Jacks pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse of a child, and the sodomy charge was dismissed.
On Wednesday, Judge Scott Hadley sentenced Jacks to 550 days in jail and 120 months probation, and also ordered the man to complete a sexual abuse therapy program. He is also prohibited from living in a home with a child for at least a year.
According to charging documents, Jacks — a family friend and baby sitter of the victim — forced the girl to perform sex acts on him at his home on Oct. 23, 2012.
After the girl told her mother what happened, the mother went to the police and the girl was interviewed at the Children's Justice Center.
