Summary

FLOODLIT is seeking more information about this case.

Nelson Bogero was a Mormon Primary children’s teacher in Cordoba, Argentina. He was criminally charged with child sexual abuse in 2022.

The alleged abuse took place in 2017. According to the victims’ mothers, Bogero had asked the families to take photos of the girls for an LDS church publication. During the photo shoot, he raped them, they said.

The mothers noticed a change in behavior in their daughters and confronted Bogero. However, one of Bogero’s LDS church leaders, who was also his brother-in-law, asked them not to tell police about the abuse, the mothers said.

In August 2024, Bogero was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

A local LDS leader allegedly knew about the abuse but failed to report to police.
