was a Mormon bishopric counselor in Alabama; moved to Utah; convicted of child sexual abuse in 1996 in Utah

Case report

Jerry Collingwood was a Mormon bishopric counselor in Alabama in about 1990 or 1991.

A person who knew Collingwood told FLOODLIT that Collingwood was arrested and convicted in Alabama of child sexual abuse. We haven’t been able to locate any court records related to that alleged case.

Collingwood moved to Utah in or around the early 1990s.

In 1996, he was convicted of two second-degree felony counts of sexual abuse of a child. As part of a plea agreement, a first-degree felony charge of sodomy on a child was dismissed without prejudice.

He was sentenced; FLOODLIT is seeking additional information about this case.
