Summary

Ben Manning joined the LDS church in 2009 when he was 17 or 18 and living with a family in Massachusetts.

He attempted to go on an LDS mission in 2011, but his bishop and stake president felt he was unprepared, according to a blog Manning maintained.

Manning allegedly molested two children in Massachusetts.

In 2014, while living with a family in Salt Lake City, Manning sexually abused a six-year-old girl on multiple occasions. The abuse took place between February and April 2014.

The victim told an adult family member about the abuse in early April 2014.

Salt Lake police interviewed the victim on or about April 8, 2014, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Utah in March 2020.

The victim told police she did not want to talk about what happened with Manning because it was a “secret,” the affidavit said.

On or about March 28, 2019, the victim was interviewed in Colorado. The affidavit doesn’t say who interviewed the victim, only that it was “an interview which followed child interviewing guidelines.”

In that interview, the child, then 11 years old, said that Manning touched her in a sexual way on at least seven occasions between February and April 2014 in Salt Lake City.

In March 2020, Manning was charged in Utah.
