Albert Carlson was a Mormon church member in Utah, New Mexico and Texas.
Carlson was arrested in the 1980s in Utah on a molestation charge after allegedly molesting an underage boy who he met through the LDS church.
The case was dropped to a lewdness charge which did not require Carlson to register as a sex offender.
In 2025, Carlson was sentenced in Texas to life in prison for child sexual abuse after being found guilty.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said that, in all, five victims testified over the course of Carlson’s trial.
According to court documents, investigators began looking into allegations against Carlson in 2020 after a teenage boy said Carlson had sexually assaulted him. They subsequently learned more victims were involved.
Carlson introduced the boys to the Mormon Church, prosecutors said. He would take in their families to give them a place to stay, entice the victims with dirt bikes and ATVs and tell them he could make them a millionaire, according to court records.
