Larry Newton was a Mormon church member who allegedly perpetrated a sex crime in 1986-1991 in Magna, Utah and West Jordan, Utah.

According to a person familiar with the case, Newton abused multiple children within the neighborhood as well as children he attended church with.

After his trial, Newton moved back three years later and started attending the same ward as before, the source said.

Newton was allowed to attend young women’s camp with the bishop to whom he had confessed his sexual abuse.

The bishop “kept an eye” on Newton while at camp while he was the priesthood leader over his sex abuse victims, according to the source.
