    Monroe, Utah - Jerry "J" Mecham, age 76, died April 26, 2014 at his home in Monroe. He was born April 29, 1937 in Salt Lake City, a son of Rullon "J" and Thelma Black Mecham. He graduated from Washington High School in Ogden, Utah. He served his country in the United States Navy and Army National Guard. Jerry married Shirley Ann Humes, March 21, 1956 in Salt Lake City. She died September 5, 2004. He was a member of the LDS Church. Jerry enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He played musical instruments, especially the guitar. He wrote many songs and had a beautiful singing voice. He is survived by his children: Sherena and Bill Sattley of Richfield; Marceen Herring of Colorado; Michael; "J" Mecham, Sharla and Dallas Hansen, all of Salt Lake City; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Diane Anderson of Ohio; Ilene Evans and Patricia Jackson, both of West Valley City. Grave side services with military honors accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post #37 and the Utah honor guard will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:00P.M. in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
