1. Utah Middle School Teacher, Volleyball Coach Arrested for Sexually Abusing Her Student
A Hawthorn Academy teacher and volleyball coach has been arrested for alleged rape and sexual abuse against a juvenile student.
Alisha Marie George, 40, was charged with one count of attempted rape (first-degree felony), four counts of forceable sodomy (first-degree felony), four counts of object rape (first-degree felony), seven counts of forcible sexual abuse (second-degree felony), and one count of distributing sexual material (third-degree felony).
George Allegedly Helped Victim with His Behavioral Issues, Was Seen as a Mother Figure by the Student
According to court documents obtained by ABC4, on Nov. 23, West Jordan Police responded to complaint filed by a woman who claimed that her juvenile son told her that during his 8th-grade year at Hawthorn Academy, he was sexually abused by his teacher and volleyball coach, later identified as George.
The alleged abuse is believed to have taken place over the course of several months. On Nov. 25, a forensic interview was conducted with the victim. During the interview, the victim stated that he began attending Hawthorn Academy in 7th grade, when he was 12 years old.
Court documents state that the victim had behavioral issues in 7th grade, but George helped him turn his behavior around so that she could coach him in volleyball. The victim stated that he viewed George as a mother figure.
George Kissed the Victim, Touched Him Inappropriately and Engaged in Sexual Acts with Him on Multiple Occasions
The victim told law enforcement that in Dec. 2023, he and George began spending more time alone together. From Dec. 2023 to July 2024, the victim disclosed that various incidents occurred between him and George at the school, the victim's home, and in George's car.
The victim stated that over the eight months, he and George kissed on multiple occasions. Court documents state that George would also touch the victim inappropriately and perform sexual acts on him.
In July 2024, the victim and George saw each other for the last time. During the interaction, George picked the victim up and drove to a park in Sandy. George allegedly performed sexual acts on the victim but told the victim she could not have sex with him.
George Would Get Upset if the Victim Talked to Other Girls at School
Court documents report that the victim later blocked George's phone number and social media accounts. The victim stated that George told him not to tell anyone what happened between the two of them. That is when the victim realized he was "at the point of no return."
The victim expressed to law enforcement that he felt like he and George were in a relationship. It is reported that George would get angry if the victim talked to other girls at the school. The victim described George as a "monster" to police and said, "It is crazy to do that to an eighth grader."
Hawthorn Academy Issues Statement on George's Arrest
In the wake of George's arrest, Hawthorn Academy issued the following statement:
As you can imagine, we were deeply troubled when we received news of the arrest and the allegations against Alisha Marie George – a middle school teacher at Hawthorn Academy's West Jordan campus. Inasmuch as the arrest/charges were the result of an external law enforcement investigation, we do not have additional information to share, and we have been asked to refrain from commenting on the investigation. We can say that we are fully cooperating with law enforcement, and Mrs. George has been placed on administrative leave and her access to school buildings and systems has been revoked. Lastly, we would like to reiterate that our highest priority continues to be the safety and well-being of our students.

2. SICK CHARGES ‘Monster’ school teacher seen as ‘mother figure’ charged with sexually abusing child while his mom was in hospital
Alisha Marie George, a 40-year-old teacher at K-9 Hawthorn Academy in West Jordan, Utah, is facing several charges after allegedly using “her position of trust to prey upon and groom a middle school child,” KSLTV reported, citing court documents.
The victim said he was struggling when George supposedly offered to help him by driving him to and from school and taking care of him while “his mother was bedridden.”
“[She] used this as an opportunity to engage in sexual acts with [the boy] from December 2023 through July 2024,” court docs said, according to KSLTV.
The victim, who is now 15, told police he met George at the age of 12 and developed a “tight relationship” with her. He told police he viewed her as “a mother figure” who was “always there for him.”

“[The boy] expressed that he felt like he and George were ‘in a relationship’ and said that if he spoke with other females at school, George would become angry with him,” charging documents said.
George allegedly told the child that he was “not to tell anyone,” which is when he realized “he was ‘at the point of no return.'”
The child later described George as a “monster” because “at a time in his life when he needed someone the most, George stepped up but took advantage of him,” the charging documents read.

3. ‘Monster’ middle school teacher accused of sexually abusing student who saw her as ‘mother figure’ arrested, charged
A “monster” middle school teacher has been charged with grooming and sexually abusing a teenage student who had viewed her as a “mother figure,” according to police.
Alisha Marie George, 40, a teacher and volleyball coach at the K-9 Hawthorn Academy in West Jordan, Utah, met the boy when he was just 12 years old, earned his trust, and stole his innocence, charging documents filed Thursday alleged.
The victim, now 15, told police George was a “monster” because “at a time in his life when he needed someone the most, [she] stepped up but took advantage of him.”

George met the boy when he was just 12 years old, earning his trust before allegedly abusing him sexually. Google MapsHe first met the teacher in 2023, when he was in the seventh grade, and recalled George helping him on the volleyball team.
The next year, when he was 13, and “struggling” at home, George emerged as a “mother figure” who was “always there for him,” according to charging documents.
But then, during Christmas break that year, the accused pervy teacher made out with him in her car after driving him home from a trip to the cinema with other teachers and students.
George only stopped the sickening behavior when the boy’s mother — and a friend of hers — walked out of the garage, the docs allege.
The abuse allegedly escalated from there and included oral sex.
Much of it occurred at the boy’s home after George offered to help out while his mother recovered from surgery in the hospital, according to the charging documents.

Hawthorn AcademyWhen his teacher allegedly told him not to tell anyone about what they were doing, he realized he was “at the point of no return,” he told police.
He also told cops he began to worry that George would get upset if she saw him speaking with other females at school.
The pair allegedly had their last sexual encounter in July 2024 in George’s car.
On his birthday later that year, she reached out to him, but he told her not to message him again and blocked her on social media, the docs state.
He told police that George was his first sexual experience.
In total, George is facing 22 charges: four counts of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony; one count of attempted rape, a first-degree felony; 12 counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; one count of distributing pornographic material, a third-degree felony; and four counts of unlawfully kissing a minor, a class A misdemeanor.
After her arrest, multiple other students came forward and reported they had also been groomed by George or saw her acting inappropriately.
More charges could be forthcoming, officials noted.
George is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail without bail, jail records show.
She is scheduled to make her initial court appearance on Dec. 9.

5. Utah Teacher Alisha Marie George Charged With Sexual Abuse of a Minor at Hawthorn Academy
In a troubling development from Utah's Hawthorn Academy, Alisha Marie George, a 40-year-old teacher and volleyball coach, faces multiple charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a minor student. As reported by ABC4, George was charged with one count of attempted rape, four counts of forceable sodomy, four counts of object rape, seven counts of forcible sexual abuse, and one count of distributing sexual material, charges that cast a grim shadow over her 16-year teaching career.
Details emerged after the mother of a 15-year-old boy reached out to West Jordan police, citing that her son had been sexually abused by George while he was in eighth grade, a period of abuse that spanned several months, an accusation that has rocked the local community, and elevated concerns over student safety in academic spaces with the West Jordan Police Department launching their investigation this past Sunday according to KSL.com.
Further distressing the community, it was learned that George, in her dual roles within Hawthorn Academy, provided instruction in an honors language arts class and led the volleyball team, positions that entrusted her with the care and mentorship of young minds and athletes. These allegations have thus precipitated a crisis of trust in an institution that many families had turned to for the education and nurturing of their children.
Complicating George's arrest and charges are additional reports from FOX13, detailing the controlling nature of the accused's interactions with the student; if he conversed with other girls at school, George would react with anger, and upon learning of his imminent transfer to another school, George, wrought with emotion, implored the student to conceal the nature of their relationship, this appeal to silence now echoes as an indictment of her intentions and the alleged grave misuse of her authority.

A 15-year-old boy said he began attending Hawthorn Academy when he was 12 years old and in 7th grade. He said he had a hard time but that his teacher, George, helped him.
The boy said George invited him and other students to eat with her at a restaurant during the summer of 2023, but that "she got in trouble for this lunch," according to the probable cause statement.
At the beginning of 8th grade, the boy said he was 13 years old and had a "tight relationship" with George. He said he was struggling at home, and that George acted as a "mother figure" who was "always there for him."

8. Utah middle school teacher faces 22 charges in alleged sex abuse of student
WEST JORDAN — Nearly two dozen criminal charges were filed Thursday against a middle school teacher in West Jordan accused of grooming and then sexually abusing a former student who told police he viewed her as a "mother figure."
Alisha Marie George, 40, of Eagle Mountain, is charged in 3rd District Court with attempted rape and four counts of forcible sodomy, first-degree felonies; 12 counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; distributing pornographic material, a third-degree felony; and four counts of unlawful kissing of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
Court documents indicate that additional victims have come forward, and more charges could be filed against her.
At the time of her arrest, George taught an honors language arts class at Hawthorn Academy, 9062 S. 2200 West, and was also the volleyball coach, according to police.
In court documents, prosecutors say George "used her position of trust to prey upon and groom a middle school child. The victim recounted that he was struggling when the defendant offered to help him, offering to drive him to and from school and assist in taking care of him when his mother was bedridden. (She) used this as an opportunity to engage in sexual acts with (the boy) from December 2023 through July 2024."
The victim told police he was 12 and in seventh grade when he met George. The following year, he told police he had developed a "tight relationship" with George while "he was struggling in his home life, and George offered to keep an eye on him. (The boy) reported that he viewed George as a 'mother figure' who was 'always there for him,'" the charges state.
But police say inappropriate touching and kissing soon turned into more sexual activity in George's car, her home and the boy's home.
The boy says when George told him "not to tell anyone," he "realized he was 'at the point of no return,'" according to charging documents. "(The boy) expressed that he felt like he and George were 'in a relationship' and said that if he spoke with other females at school, George would become angry with him."
The boy later described the teacher as a "monster" because "at a time in his life when he needed someone the most, George stepped up but took advantage of him," the charges state.
Investigators say that after George was arrested, "multiple students reported to the police department that they, too, had been groomed by (George) or observed the inappropriate behavior that (she) engaged in with students," according to the charges.
Prosecutors say they anticipate "additional charges will be filed, which would include conduct related to additional victims."

WEST JORDAN, Utah — A West Jordan teacher faces multiple charges after a former student alleges that she sexually abused him for several months while she was his teacher and volleyball coach.
Alisha Marie George, 41, was arrested Tuesday on several charges, including attempted rape and forcible sexual abuse, among others. She is being held without bail.
The victim's mother said her son had first disclosed the abuse on Sunday, and it wasn't until Tuesday that officers with the West Jordan Police Department were able to interview the student.
The victim told officers that he began attending Hawthorn Academy in the seventh grade when he was 12 years old, and had behavioral issues that George was helping him with.
Beginning in December of 2023, the victim said he and George began spending more time together, with sexual incidents occurring at school, in the victim's home, and in George's vehicle. The boy told police that George forcibly made him perform sexual acts with her.
The student said that if he spoke with other girls while at school, George would become angry with him.
According to police, when the boy told George that he was going to be going to a different school, George asked why and began crying, and then asked him not to tell anyone about their relationship.
