G.S. was a Mormon man in the Pinnacle Mountain Ward in the Little Rock, Arkansas stake.
A lawsuit was filed against the LDS church on Jan. 30, 2026. In the lawsuit, a woman who was a child sexual abuse victim alleges multiple failures by Mormon officials.
The lawsuit refers to G.S. only by his initials.
G.S. 1993 criminal conviction
According to the lawsuit, G.S. was criminally convicted in 1993 in Arkansas of felony sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree.
G.S. had also previously sexually abused his own cousin who had Down Syndrome, according to the lawsuit.
Floodlit is seeking to learn G.S.’s identity and obtain copies of criminal case records.
Nearly 12 years of alleged child sex abuse
The lawsuit says G.S. abused the victim from 1981-1993, from ages 4 to 15 years old, for nearly 12 years of abuse.
Arkansas allowed a brief lookback window that enabled the victim to seek recovery for damages. The window expired Jan. 31, 2026.
The lawsuit states that when she was 15, the victim reported the abuse to her bishop in the Pinnacle Mountain Ward. The bishop, bishopric counselors and other priesthood holders met with the victim and her mother and questioned the victim about the abuse, according to the complaint.
Meanwhile, the lawsuit alleges, G.S. accused the victim of seducing him.
Alleged failures by a Mormon bishop and other church officials
Church leaders implied that the victim was responsible for her own victimization and said they would wait for the criminal case to resolve before taking any church action, the suit says.
Then, according to the lawsuit, church officials allowed the perpetrator to give public testimony in which he asked for forgiveness from the victim, forcing the victim to sit through his act of contrition.
Church officials continued to allow the perpetrator to attend regular Sunday meetings, despite the ongoing criminal proceedings and the disclosures by the victim and her mother, the lawsuit claims, adding that the victim was not supervised or protected from the abuser while at church.
Other members of the congregation were not made aware of the pending criminal charges or the danger posed by the perpetrator, the lawsuit states.

1. Three civil suits accuse Little Rock churches of child sex abuse, demanding jury trials
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — At the end of January, several civil lawsuits were filed against multiple churches in the city of Little Rock. In all three, the plaintiffs ask for a trial by jury.
[...]
On Jan. 30, a civil case was filed against The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) on behalf of an anonymous woman named J.H.
J.H. claims, starting from 4-years-old, that she endured sexual abuse for 12 years at the hands of her stepfather, G.S., who held a position of authority at the Pinnacle Mountain Ward LDS Church.
What she told authorities in 1993, leading to criminal charges for G.S., the church "implied she was responsible for her own victimization and stated he would wait to see how the criminal charges played out before taking any action."
G.S. gave public testimony during a church service in which he asked for forgiveness from his family and daughter. J.H. was forced to sit through her abuser's public performance of contrition, re-traumatizing her in front of the entire congregation.
G.S. pled guilty to sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree.
J.H. was eventually placed in foster care with another LDS family, and continued to attend the same church as her step-father. After about nine months in foster care, her mother left G.S. and J.H. was returned to her mother's custody.
