Rampton was charged October 10, 2025 with:
-AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ABUSE OF A CHILD – 1st Degree Felony
– SODOMY ON A CHILD – 1st Degree Felony
-AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ABUSE OF A CHILD – 1st Degree Felony

Rampton was allegedly electrocuted to death 2001 (according to his book description)
2013-2017 Rampton allegedly sexually abused a 4-8 year old girl, according to the probable cause statement.
2017 the victim told her mother of Rampton’s abuse, according to the P.C. statement.
2017 a second victim reported to police that Rampton raped her, but the Davis County Prosecutors didn’t investigate because they said insufficient evidence, according to a KSL report.
2018 Rampton published a book about his near death experience from the electrocution. The book titled: “You Were Born A Warrior: A Near Death Experience”. The description of the book includes “his book will give the reader the tools to embrace their lives, along with the spiritual strength to become an eternal Warrior for God. With these tools, we can live a meaningful, blessed life on earth with the knowledge that there is a glorious place awaiting each of us.” “It’s okay to be human, fail-able, prone to mistakes, and still be an instrument for God.”
October 2025 charges related to sexual abuse of the 4-8 year old child brought against Rampton, bail was denied.
According to the KSL article “In court Thursday, Rampton showed little emotion but appeared to shake his head in disagreement as a prosecutor described the allegations. Rampton’s defense attorney argued he should be released on bail, telling the judge Rampton isn’t a danger to the community or a flight risk. After hearing arguments from both parties and from the father of the accuser, Second District Judge Blaine Rawson ordered Rampton continue to be held without bail.”
In an court information document it states “The State is requesting a no bail warrant be issued for the Defendant to protect the victim in this case and the community, in general, as there is substantial evidence of the alleged criminal conduct and clear and convincing evidence the Defendant poses a risk to the victim and the community. Through the investigation it was discovered the Defendant works as a firefighter in the community and also has a photography studio at his residence where he markets photoshoots with young girls at his home for “princess parties”.

According to someone familiar with Rampton, he was active in the LDS church at the time of the alleged abuse in 2013-2017. And at one point, he was excommunicated for something different than the charges related to child sexual abuse that he is currently charged with as of October 2025. Our source says they are unaware of the details surrounding his excommunication, but stated that Rampton was rebaptized and then allegedly perpetrated between 2013-2017. Rampton left the LDS sometime after 2017, according to our source.

2. Roy City firefighter, photographer charged with sexual abuse of a child
SYRACUSE, Utah (KUTV) — A Roy City firefighter was charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child earlier this month after he was accused of sexually assaulting a victim multiple times for several years.
Ryan J. Rampton, 58, of Syracuse, was charged with two counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child and one count of first-degree felony sodomy of a child.
Rampton is accused of assaulting the victim between 2013 and 2017, according to court documents.
The victim described multiple instances of sexual abuse to investigators and first reported the abuse in 2017. However, charging documents said the victim was "uncomfortable discussing the nature of the abuse to the male police detective" conducting the interview at the time.

3. Roy firefighter charged with sexually abusing young girl years ago Fire department assures public that alleged crimes pre-dated employment
SYRACUSE, Utah — A firefighter who has worked for multiple agencies across northern Utah has been charged with sexually abusing a child.
Ryan J. Rampton, 58, was charged last week with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and one charge of sodomy on a child. All three are first-degree felonies.
Charging documents state that the alleged victim in this case, now a teenager, said she was sexually abused by Rampton when she was between 4-8 years old.
The girl said Rampton, who lives in Syracuse, touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions, including under her clothes and even when she was asleep.
When she was about seven or eight years old, she told her mother about the abuse, and they reported it to the police. However, she was uncomfortable telling the detective what happened at the time, according to court documents, and the case "remained in the investigatory phase" for years.
Now that she's older, the girl said she chose to report it again so no other victims would be abused. She said Rampton has a photo studio at his home, where young girls "change into princess costumes and are photographed," the document states.
The Davis County Attorney's Office, which filed the charges, requested a no-bail warrant for Rampton's arrest. They cited one reason being that he is a firefighter, along with the "princess" photoshoots at his home.
Public records show that Rampton has worked as a firefighter and/or paramedic since 2020. He has worked for Morgan County, Riverdale City, North Davis Fire District, and most recently, Roy City.
He was booked into the Davis County Jail on Tuesday with no bail.
Roy City Fire Chief Theron Williams issued a statement on Wednesday, saying the department is aware of the charges.
"The department takes all allegations seriously and is committed to transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of public service. At this time, the department is actively reviewing the claims and cooperating with relevant authorities to ensure a thorough investigation," the statement read in part.
Two weeks later, Williams issued a more detailed response, saying Rampton resigned on Oct. 24. He also said the time period of the alleged abuse — 2013 to 2017 — was before his time with Roy FD.
"I can assure you that this employee would not have been hired had any criminal record or prior misconduct been known," Williams said.

4. Roy firefighter, photographer charged with sexual abuse of a child
SALT LAKE CITY – A Utah firefighter is facing multiple charges after investigators suspect he sexually abused a child family member over the span of four years.
Ryan J. Rampton, 58, Utah, was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and one count of sodomy on a child, according to the 2nd Judicial District Court. The State requested a no-bail warrant to protect the victim and the community at large.
Court documents stated that during the investigation, it was discovered Rampton has a photography studio in Clinton, Rampton Photography, at his residence, where he “markets photoshoots with young girls at his home for ‘princess parties,'” and works as a firefighter in the community.
InvestigationAccording to a probable cause statement from the Syracuse Police Department, police responded to a child sex abuse report in March 2025 involving Rampton and a child family member.
The victim reported the abuse occurred at Rampton’s house and the victim’s mother’s house, both located in Syracuse, between 2013 and 2017, according to court documents.
The victim was reportedly interviewed at the Weber County Children’s Justice Center, where they “disclosed multiple acts of sexual abuse … with (Rampton) during the relevant time period.”
In 2017, court documents state the victim told their mother about the abuse and it was reported at that time. Due to the victim’s feelings of discomfort when detailing the abuse to a male police officer who was conducting the interview, the case reportedly “remained in the investigatory phase until it was again reported in March of 2025.”
According to court documents, “The Victim disclosed that she had confided in (their) mother and disclosed the nature of the abuse in detail as a young child and throughout the years, but (their) mother asked (them) not to say anything …. asking the Victim if (they) could forgive (Rampton).”
In May 2025, the victim reportedly spoke with their mother about the abuse on a recorded phone call arranged by the Syracuse Police Department. On the call, the victim’s mother apologized for being told about the abuse and “after everything the Victim has been through, she believes (them) and acknowledges she did not protect the Victim from (Rampton).”
Court documents state the victim wanted to report the abuse to prevent Rampton from harming any other children, highlighting concern about his photography studio at his residence, where young girls change into princess costumes and are photographed.

8. Bail denied for Roy firefighter charged in sexual abuse case
FARMINGTON — A Roy firefighter facing child sexual abuse charges will stay behind bars for now.
Ryan Rampton, 58, is facing two counts of aggravated child sexual abuse and one count of sodomy on a child — all first-degree felonies.
A child first disclosed the alleged abuse to police in 2017, but according to charging documents, "she was uncomfortable discussing the nature of the abuse to the male police detective who was conducting the CJC interview at the time."
The case stalled, remaining in an "investigatory phase" until it was reported again in March this year when the now teenager came forward again. According to court documents, the teen told investigators Rampton is also a photographer and could have access to other young girls.
In court Thursday, Rampton showed little emotion but appeared to shake his head in disagreement as a prosecutor described the allegations. Rampton's defense attorney argued he should be released on bail, telling the judge Rampton isn't a danger to the community or a flight risk.
After hearing arguments from both parties and from the father of the accuser, Second District Judge Blaine Rawson ordered Rampton continue to be held without bail.
"I think it's important that the victim, in this case, feel protected," said Larissa DeGraaff, who is part of a small network that supports survivors of sexual assault.
DeGraaff doesn't know anyone involved in the case but showed up to offer her support.
"If they can be brave to stand up, they need people to stand with them," she said. "I don't want anybody to feel like they're standing alone."
Ryan Rampton, 58, appears in court in Farmington on Thursday. The Roy firefighter, who faces two counts of aggravated child sexual abuse and one count of sodomy on a child, was denied bail.

(Photo: Mark Wetzel, KSL-TV)The KSL Investigators have learned the teen involved in the case is not the only one who reported Rampton to Syracuse Police in 2017. That same year, a woman reported that he sexually assaulted her. Records show Davis County prosecutors declined to charge Rampton with rape due to "insufficient evidence."
The Davis County Attorney's Office has not said whether that case will now get a new look.
The Roy Fire Department released a statement indicating Rampton has been placed on leave pending an investigation, but did not specify how long he has been on leave or whether he is still receiving paychecks.
Rampton is scheduled to appear in court again in November.
