Summary

Brent Hansen was a Mormon dentist in Spanish Fork, Utah. He was also mayor of Spanish Fork and president of its chamber of commerce.
Hansen was accused in a civil lawsuit brought against him and his brother Kent Hansen of receiving sexual favors from a patient in return for writing prescriptions for narcotics between 1986 and 1988.
The Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) suspended Brent Hansen’s license for 30 days.
“[Kent] Hansen and his twin brother, Brent [Hansen], have been accused of sexual misconduct, incompetency, over-prescribing drugs and fraudulent Medicaid billing in a petition issued by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing in August 1989.” (Deseret News)
In 1996, Hansen settled out of court with a woman who was suing him for leaving her in pain from dental work and for making improper sexual advances. But the woman failed to respond to a motion filed by Hansen’s attorney. During that time, the woman reportedly needed money to move into a new apartment. She said Hansen came to her home while she was intoxicated and paid her $750 and had her sign a letter dropping the lawsuit. She said Hansen brought her over a bottle of wine at that time. He denied bringing the wine. The judge ruled the payment and letter constituted a settlement.
Kent and Brent Hansen sued the patient for defamation with whom they had allegedly exchanged sexual favors.
The judge ruled in favor of the Hansen twins, and awarded them $1. (This sum is not a typographical error.)
