Case report
Brent Hansen was a mormon and dentist in Spanish Fork, Utah. Was accused and a civil suit brought against him and his brother Kent Hansen, for receiving sexual favors from a patient in return writing prescriptions for narcotics between 1986-1988. The Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing suspended Brent Hansen’s license for 30 days.
“[Kent] Hansen and his twin brother, Brent [Hansen], have been accused of sexual misconduct, incompetency, over-prescribing drugs and fraudulent Medicaid billing in a petition issued by the state Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing in August 1989.” (Deseret News)
Kent Hansen and Brent Hansen sued the same patient that they exchanged sexual favors for for slander. The judge ruled in favor of the Hansen twins, and awarded them $1. (This sum is not a typo).
Brent was President of the Chamber of Commerce and Mayor of Spanish Fork. Kent Hansen’s (brother of Brent Hansen) case report can be viewed here https://floodlit.org/a/a554/
March 6, 1996 Brent additionally settled out of court with a woman that was suing him for leaving her in pain from dental work as well as making improper sexual advances. But the woman failed to respond to a motion filed by Hansen’s attorney. And during that time the woman needed money to move into a new apartment. Hansen came to her home while she says she was intoxicated and paid her $750 and had her signing a letter dropping the lawsuit. Additionally the woman says Hansen brought her over a bottle of wine at that time. He denied bringing the wine. The judge ruled the payment and letter constitute a settlement.
