Charles Edward Richmond was a Mormon church member in Kansas.
Richmond was accused of sexually abusing a girl for four years, starting when she was 8 years old.
Prosecutors said the victim reported that, in order to protect another child from abuse by Richmond, she reported her ongoing abuse.
Richmond who had fled to Florida had to be extradited back to Kansas.
Richmond took a plea deal; in exchange for his plea to one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, prosecutors dismissed counts of rape and sodomy.
According to a person familiar with the case who asked to remain anonymous, Richmond was excommunicated for his abuse.
The victim’s mother said in court that there were 6 other victims Richmond sexually abused.
He was sentenced to life with no chance of parole for 25 years.
At one point, Richmond was an addiction recovery specialist in his LDS ward or stake, according to our source.
