Ray Gibbons, a retired police officer and LDS member, was sentenced in 2000 to up to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing a 14 year old girl and her 16 year old sister for 4 months. He pleaded guilty to two charges of forcible sex abuse. His victims were two girls from a family he home taught.
It has been reported to FLOODLIT that he was a primary teacher for the girls when they were younger too.
In 2018, Thomas Gibbons was arrested in Utah for a sex offender violation because he was caught at a public pool.
FLOODLIT’s investigative efforts suggest that Gibbons was released from prison in Utah sometime between 2000-2006.

pleaded guilty in November to two counts of second-degree felony forcible sexual abuse. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed two other charges of forcible sex abuse and one count of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony.
Gibbons, who retired more than five years ago after 16 years as a school resource officer for the Layton Police Department, was the girl's Primary School teacher and also the family's home teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
