Larry Harmon was a Mormon church member in Utah. In the 1950s, he was a missionary for the church in Manchester, England.
In 2005, Harmon pleaded guilty to three first-degree felony charges of aggravated sex abuse of a child.
In December 2005, Harmon was sentenced to nine months in the Utah County Jail and three years of probation.
Floodlit is seeking additional court documents in Harmon’s 2005 criminal case.
As of 2007, Harmon was a registered sex offender.
Court records indicate that Harmon’s felony convictions were reduced to Class A misdemeanors in 2008.
In March 2012, Harmon was charged with one count of first-degree felony aggravated sex abuse of a child.
A probable cause statement in Harmon’s 2012 case states: “On 12/10/2011 the defendant was at his LDS Church building in Orem assisting members of the ward in setting up for a Christmas party. He located the 12-year-old female victim alone in the kitchen of the church. He approached the victim from behind, embraced her, and touched the victim’s buttocks. At the time of the offense the defendant had previously been convicted of a misdemeanor sexual offense.”
Harmon died on June 3, 2012. The felony charge was dismissed without prejudice five days later.
From Harmon’s obituary:
“He served in the U.S. Army 1953 to 1955 and later served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Manchester, England. Larry married [his wife] on February 3, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
[…]
“He and [his wife] served missions in the Utah Provo Mission Office and Korean Temple, and served many years in the Provo Temple and the Mt. Timpanogas [sic] Temples.”
