Lorne Elli Lorne Anthony Elli served a mission for the LDS church in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission in the mid-1980s; in 2011 he was charged in Granville County, North Carolina with first-degree sexual offense and indecent liberties with a child, for conduct dated to 2008; he was convicted on 23 May 2011 of indecent liberties with a minor, sentenced to a term of one year and eight months, and released in October 2013.

Court records list the victim’s age as 10.

He appears on the North Carolina sex offender registry. A former missionary companion, who reported the case to FLOODLIT, said he witnessed nothing of concern during their service together in the 1980s and had no knowledge of Elli’s later church activity.
