He describes himself as a behavioural therapist and is a former substitute teacher who previously worked at a Salt Lake area school; police say he works with autistic children and advertised tutoring and babysitting services on social media.

In 2026, aged 57, he was arrested and charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, having collected child sexual abuse material over approximately 20 years.

According to police, he also sought to meet minors and to obtain sexual images from them. When confronted by investigators he said he would never hurt a child and loved working with children, and asked whether the matter could be made to go away so that he could keep helping them. A person who reported the case, and who was taught by him in Primary, states that he has not been excommunicated or disciplined by the church.
