In 2022, aged 25, he was sentenced to one to 15 years in prison after accepting a plea deal and pleading guilty to sex abuse of a child, a second-degree felony, for an offence committed in Cache County in 2015 against a victim described in court as a family acquaintance.

Judge Angela Fonnesbeck imposed the maximum sentence in 1st District Court.

He faced separate sentencing in 2nd District Court in Davis County, where he had pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual battery, class A misdemeanours, relating to conduct between 2011 and 2014. The person who reported the case indicates church leaders were aware.
